We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Wilkinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicholas, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, the optimist in me would love to tell you that I’ve always dreamed of owning my own small business. Something that can rise and fall by my own hands. However, the realist in me just needed a job. I have some autoimmune related health issues and sometimes find myself in a wheelchair unable to stand for long periods. It was impossible to find a job locally. So, I created something that I can do for myself and by myself if need be.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a lifelong writer. but I’m a man of many passions, so at times being an EMT, Professional Wrestler & Promoter, and Behavioral Health Supervisor. took precedent over my writing. However, as I got older, and medical issues began piling up, I was able to reignite that passion for writing and crafting stories. From there it’s kind of been a whirlwind. I went from one story in one book to over 50 stories in 30+ books. Then, I saved my pennies and asked myself, what else is there that I want to accomplish?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend has been to Phoenix to visit but not Kearny. I can’t wait to show him the drive into town! I winding roads, the desert landscape, Teapot Mountain off in the distance, the hills full of cacti and wildlife. It’s going to be a surreal experience for him coming from Philadelphia. I’ll take him from Superior to Globe so he can see the contrasting landscapes and then probably finish with a drive from Globe, past Dripping Springs and to Winkleman Flatts. The diversity in the ecosystems is something he’s going to love. We will probably also take in the sites at Kearny Lake and certainly spend a lot of time eating some of those one of a kind hot meals they serve daily at Norm’s IGA in Kearny.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My spiritual and social mentor Tim Hicks, from San Tan Valley. He’s an amazing person who makes all the difference in the world when he has your back and belives in you.
