Meet Nicolette Lemmon | Author, Trainer and Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicolette Lemmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicolette, why did you pursue a creative career?
After retiring from running my marketing agency, I wanted my daughter and grandkids to know that one can pursue a dream at any age. To start a business or find a new creative outlet, I wanted to show how the key is being persistent and determined. And that success is not tied to age. I decided to pursue a lifelong dream of creating a writing and speaking business across both fiction and nonfiction genres. In addition, my marketing and business expertise has been the foundation for offering training and guidebooks to fellow authors.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
For over 30 years, I was the founder and president of LemmonTree Marketing Group, a full-service agency with 18 employees and clients all over the country. It was a wonderful career filled with working around lots of talented individuals to provide solutions to a wide variety of clients. Having challenging opportunities, traveling, and winning awards was very fulfilling. One aspect of my work included giving marketing presentations at major conferences and being asked to write marketing handbooks. Using Lemmon Publishing Group as the division for books, I decided to continue that part of my business to pursue new writing projects in semi-retirement.
Adapting my marketing expertise to the business of writing with presentations for conferences and handbooks has enabled me to help writers enhance their author brands and book sales. Having had a short story published in an anthology and produced non-fiction handbooks for the author community in 2025, my next project is to publish a mystery series this spring.
All these opportunities help me with ideas to entertain, motivate, and inspire other writers for their success as the focus of Lemmon Publishing Group.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having lived in the Phoenix Metro area for most of my life, there are so many favorites! Hiking is fun on Camelback Mountain and South Mountain. For shopping, Fashion Square in Scottsdale is a must. Then, for restaurants, Old Town Scottsdale offers a wide range of restaurants, bars, and shops.
For those with children, visiting the Phoenix Zoo, the Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park, and OdySea Aquarium with Butterfly Wonderland are great experiences for the whole family.
Sports fans can find professional football, basketball, baseball, and soccer in Phoenix as well as collegiate sports in Tempe, Tucson, and Flagstaff.
Finally, while not in the city, visitors can drive north to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley for timeless beauty. Then, a drive south to Tombstone will show a visitor the Wild West town known for its historic Gunfight at the OK Corral.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In developing the fiction side of Lemmon Publishing Group, I became an active member of Sisters in Crime, a national organization focused on enhancing the careers of writers of mysteries, thrillers, and crime stories. When volunteering, I could see how little most writers and authors were familiar with business practices due to careers in education, medicine, government, and other industries with no connection to marketing. After doing several author marketing presentations, I was asked for a handbook. Another aspect was how writers and authors need to treat their writing as a business. A second workbook was created to go with presentations on crafting a writer’s business plan. My daughter is my helpful editor and social media maven, and my husband handles my email marketing and website. I am so thankful that building Lemmon Publishing Group has been possible due to my family and lots of writer friends who support my writing and speaking business!
