We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noah, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be kindness. I’ve always loved music and always will put 1000% of myself into it, but it all means nothing if you’re not a kind person or trying to spread a positive energy. Almost everyone has a perspective of being bullied or being a bully at some point in their life, and to try your best to not put that perspective on yourself or anyone else is a way that I want to live. To be a good force in helping someone’s day not hurting it. Music is a great way to express your feelings and emotions, wether truly cutting and deep to a happy time. By being able to express these feelings and put a positive spin on things like anger, jealousy, or depression it makes them powerful tools for people. I always used other bands music to help me get through hard times and keep going, it was an outlet that let me express myself with out affecting others. It is a challenge trying to be kind to as many people as possible, but it’s a challenge that makes you find more in yourself and others. A goal wether in music or in my regular life is to be as kind as I can to everyone that I meet, a legacy of kindness is something I will forever chase, and try my hardest to achieve.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a musician from Tucson, Arizona. This city has influenced me in more ways than I can say. But the desert has an interesting way on the mind, to see so much diverse and beautiful life in a place where nothing should grow. This has always fascinated me and affected my art in interesting ways. My family is from Nogales and I grew up going to visit and spending time with family. These two mixes of environment and culture come out in my art all the time. I would say my art is more introspective and darker, the only way for me to create is to be honest with myself of what I’m feeling or wanting to say. Just how the desert is honest with its bearing heat and lip chapping air. I’m most proud of how my sound has grown and is always changing but still keeps the energy of the desert and the life around it. I started playing music as a young kid wanting to be just like my dad, this overtime turned into an obsession to just play all the time. I started to play real shows in high school with my band at the time, it wasn’t until I graduated that I really took it serious. Starting out was not easy that’s for sure, learning the ropes of writing songs, emailing/ talking to venues, and self marketing all are extremely daunting at first. But over time you grow and learn and it all starts to become easier. The biggest challenge I would say is having the determination to keep going. No matter what people say or do just keep going. There will be many times in your career when you aren’t given a chance or told no, this can’t get to you though. No matter what happens if you have fun playing and know it’s what you want, chase it. Don’t care what anyone else says. I want the world to know that I’m here to give the most electric shows I can and push myself and body to the limits, we try to make shows as fun and interesting as possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them around tucson, we have an interesting way of having fun. To start I would take them on hikes, to museums, shows, and to do some sight seeing. We would have to do a Mexican food crawl, stop at zemams, and catch breakfast at ghinis French cafe. Tucson’s culture and food will keep me hungry and wanting more for a long time

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shout out the band Tonight’s Sunshine and the producer Ricky Washer at Cima Music. These people have me my first shots and let me be myself. They’ve helped me make great friends and memories but have helped me in my career by giving me a chance. One of my first real gigs in town was with tonight’s sunshine, they gave me a chance when no other band would. Ricky Washer let me spread my wings while recording and find my true sound, an experience I will never forget and look forward too everytime we meet.
