We had the good fortune of connecting with Oliver Headon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Oliver, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
the couple of habits that i genuinely believe that have helped me be successful;

– I have very bad dyslexia and ADHD, which obviously has made some things in my business quite difficult BUT it has never stopped me and i feel it has super boosted some other points. As my mind is different to the average joe’s, i look at things differently, for example i think i have a good perspective when it comes to creating and making decision. I have proved this with my brand Bigfoot Brace, i have taken protective gear which predominately isn’t “fashionable” and turned it into a trendy, unique brand. When i have many intelligent people telling me that the concept wont work, the products wont sell, which then leads me to my next reason as to what i think has helped me be successful.

The other point that has helped me succeed and helped me stay motivated, is that i have always been put down my whole life from school, told that i am stupid, never going to succeed and still to this day having multiple times a day people patronising me, this really a big motivator and drive for me to succeed. When people are negative towards me i find it amusing because they are fuelling me and my success to creating a bigger and better brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I left school at 18 and moved to Japan, I come from an extreme sports background! Before i set up my business i was working as a Bungy Jump Instructor for 7 years all across the world working in 9 different countries for different Bungy jumping sites. I got to experience so many different cultures and have life changing experiences. In 2018 i was appointed Operations Manager in setting up the worlds highest Bungy Jump in Zhangjiajie, China which was seen on CNN, Daily Mail and other news outlets, this was the pinnacle of my ex career. Another BIG dream is to set up my own Bungy Site somewhere in the world! Watch this space!

Not a lesson from the work but a lesson in Bungy jumping when things are scary and making you nervous, that’s the time to jump, this is living, don’t look back and enjoy the ride!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Straight up my girlfriend and family, even writing this article out for The Shoutout series i am shouting out at my girlfriend to stop what she is doing to come proof read all my writing and spelling. This is what i struggle with so she really is my other half helping me behind the scenes with the smaller things which make up the bigger things! She’s my right arm!

Parents will always be parents, so sometimes their advice isn’t always the best advice but you know its always with love and support and in the end all they want is for you to succeed so shout out the my family, they’ve kept me going.

And last shout out to everyone who has supported us on the journey right from the start. A lot of my ‘close’ friends i thought would be rooting for me, barely even supported me throughout, where as you get complete strangers who would support the Bigfoot brand like we have been best friends for life and honestly i couldn’t be more thankful for those people that have support me on this business journey and help me grow.
