We had the good fortune of connecting with Onika Patel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Onika, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I truly believe the most important factor in the success of my business, and the brand is understanding what my audience and patients want. All of my branding is grassroots level, me and my husband do everything on our own and have never hired an outside company. Everything from our social media content, captions, and published marketing is created by us, and surely that takes a lot of time and creativity. It’s hard work, but it shows our authenticity and who we really are and what is important to us, which is our patients and our team who work with us at Minted Dental. I have seen many accounts similar to ours or utilize what we do but I know from experience that true success comes from not recycling what someone else is doing, but knowing what your audience and patient/customer wants and giving it to them! I think authenticity is important but also having a vision for what you want to put out there as having people get to know you as a business owner, and most importantly, person.What should our readers know about your business?
Minted Dental is a private, family owned dental office. It’s not like any other dental office in that it provides an unforgettable patient experience. My journey to get here was filled with challenge but it has been well worth it! I think the main lesson I have learned along the way is that no one knows what you are capable of but yourself. Sometimes people will discourage you or tell you not to do something but only you know what your plan is and how hard you are willing to work to be able to decide whether or not to open a business or take the leap to start a new venture. When you are successful, those naysayers will be asking you for advice! I think the best lesson is to be really self aware of your work ethic, capabilities, and vision and be very realistic about how you can execute to achieve your goals! My brand comes from wanting to provide something different and work differently. I enjoy being a dentist, truly, but I didn’t enjoy the way I was doing it. I left my position at another office and opened up what I would call my dream office. This allowed me to treat patients the way I wanted to -through building trust, providing a service people look forward to coming back for, and leading a team who is happy and enjoys coming to work each day.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ah! How fun. We love Arizona! There are so many things to do. If COVID didn’t exist, ideally, the Spring is the best time to take advantage of the weather! Hiking Camelback mountain, attending a spring training game, getting in a round of golf would be awesome. There are lots of great outdoor patios to enjoy happy hour, Sorso Wine Room is a favorite at Scottsdale Quarter. There are some great restaurants all over the valley, Downtown Gilbert has some great walkable spots, as well as Central Phoenix. Dicks Hideaway or Richardsons is always a great local restaurant to try, as well as Barrio Cafe on 16th street. I have been going to Barrio Cafe in Phoenix since I was in college at ASU and its always a hit. After hiking Camelback a stop at Le Grande Orange for their Nutmilk latte and something to eat would be fun too!Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible team at Minted Dental. They take amazing care of our patients and work tirelessly to do so. If I didn’t have strong team members behind me at Minted Dental we wouldn’t be where we are today. They are hardworking, loyal, and most of all care deeply about treating people well and giving patients an unforgettable experience, which is our practice philosophy.
