Meet Otto Norvio | Music Producer & DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Otto Norvio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Otto, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I want my life to be meaningful. I want to use it to make an impact. Every night when I go to bed I feel peace thinking that maybe my music made someone smile today. I chose an artistic career to connect with people on a deeper level and share the positive energy which is much needed in today’s world. Most of us are too busy to enjoy the miracle of life. I hope my music brings the listener to this moment away from the stress even for a brief moment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I produce music for artists in my home country, Finland. I also bring people together by organizing electronic music events and working as a DJ. Most of us have heard stories about how tough music business is. The rumors are unfortunately true but they don’t have to be. Music is art which is a carrier of love and other great feelings between us. Working in the music industry is not so exhausting when you remember the purpose of art in your daily life. It’s not a competition. It’s a connection. The highlights of my career are my international performances forexample in Ibiza, Spain. Since I live in Finland and visit Arizona, USA with a tourist visa I never work while visiting. Coming to Tucson Arizona is a vacation to be spend with my girlfriend who lives in Tucson.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have two cities I consider home: Helsinki, Finland and Tucson, Arizona. I live in Helsinki but visit frequently in Tucson to see my girlfriend. I love both cities equally and have great memories and favorite spots in both of them. If my friends from Finland travelled to Tucson I’d first show them Campbell lookout. That’s a great place to have a view of the entire city. I’d take my Finnish friends to taste the great American foods and drinks in the University Boulevard.
In Helsinki I’d be a better tour guide since I have lived here my whole life. It’s completely different experience if you arrive in the summer or winter. In the summer you would enjoy the midnight sun. It never gets dark you can see people hanging out in parks all night long. We would take ferries in the archipelago, drink coffee in a small marina and go to sauna which is a Finnish invention. In the winter the bucket list contains Ice swimming in the ocean, ice skating in the main square and then doing something indoors because it can be negative 31 fahrenheit outside.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Art is a reflection of the reality. And it would be meaningless without the amazing people who give me inspiration and support me on my journey. Everyone who I have met, lost, loved have played a huge role to get me where I am right now. The biggest credit goes to my girlfriend who is always the first person to hear my new songs. There is also one book I must mention: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I would recommend everyone to read it if they haven’t already.
