We had the good fortune of connecting with Patsy Elmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patsy, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I asked both of my grown children, Tony and Christine, what they learn from me that has impacted their lives today. They said they learned unconditional love and to treat others the same as you would want to be treated, no matter what color their skin is.

Big Time Jerseys offers stitched name and number customizations on jerseys for the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Coyotes, San Jose Sharks, San Jose Barracudas, Arizona Rattlers, Phoenix Mercury, Tucson Sugar Skulls, Spokane Shock, LA Kiss, Harlem Globetrotters, Fanatics, The Upper Deck Company and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. We also customize for avid jersey collectors around the world. What sets us apart from other customizers is the quality of our work and our attention to details. My business continues to grow every year because of word of mouth. I don’t advertise because our work speaks for itself and customers talk to others. I wouldn’t say it was difficult to get to where I am today professionally, because the work I do daily doesn’t seem like work at all. Our biggest challenge we had was in March 2020, when all the professional sports stopped playing and we shut down our production for 10 weeks. During the quarantine time, we were able to focus on sewing and donating 2,000 masks for hospitals. Each of my ladies and I worked from our own homes. They would drop off and pick up more cutting and sewing from my patio so we could maintain social distancing. Together but separately we were able to fill a need and feel a sense of contribution within ourselves and to our fellow human. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that no matter what happens in life, when one door closes then another bigger and better door opens up a new and exciting adventure for me to experience. I think what I would want the world to know about me and my story is this…….when you’re faced with a life-changing experience, whether it is the loss of a spouse or a divorce as in my case, there is still another wonderful life for you to not only live but thrive. My life didn’t turn out the way that I thought it would. It turned out a thousand times better than I ever thought it could!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Presuming all sports teams are playing, the first night we would get a pass to have dinner with the friends and family of the Suns players. We would be able to high-five the players as they run past us entering the court. Then we would go to our suite to watch the game with a pre-arranged impromptu visit from The Gorilla for a fun memorable experience. The next night we would go see the Coyotes play hockey and have dinner in the suite with another fun impromptu visit from Howler. The next night we would go to watch the Cardinals play football while having dinner in a party suite and another fun visit from the Cardinals mascot Big Red. The next night we would go to Chase Field to watch the Diamondbacks game, have dinner in a suite and another fun visit from their mascot Baxter.

The people who helped me achieve this success is my team that has worked with me during the past 12 years. Sherry Vroman, Cam Pham, Nooria Hasanzada, Ragina Hotaki, Venessa Chambers, Rosie Gabaldon, Ariel Strobel and Gunner Tutokey. Bill Henderson and Luis Gonzalez have also been a valuable source for me.
