We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Crawford Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bailey Crawford, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without risk, life doesn’t advance. Risk is the momentum that pushes us outside of our comfort zones and forces us to grow. For me, there was a part in my life where I was faced with making a tough decision. Should I keep my reliable 9-5? Or, should I quit that stability and put all of my efforts towards honing my skill, chasing my passion, and growing my business? I took the leap, quit the job, and haven’t spent a single moment regretting that decision. My story is not a unique one. Take a look at all of the people you truly admire in life. At one point, or another, they were faced with that same decision. It is a terrifying, yet liberating experience. If you are ever faced with the same decision I was and you find yourself stuck in an unhappy situation, it is never too late to make the change. My advice to you is: Take The Leap.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I LOVE getting to know the people I’m working with and simply having fun with them. It’s so exciting getting to know each of them on a personal level; drinking with them, laughing together, crying together, being their personal hype man, I’m here for all of it. My goal is to help people get back down to the basics of who they are as an individual, family, and couple. I go into each shoot with high hopes of creating a new bond and relationship. This business has allowed me to meet so many amazing people. From traveling to Africa to tell the amazing story of the love in Rwanda’s community, to driving to Montana to get footage of a herd of rescued horses being set loose on a prairie, and everything in between. I am proud of the stories I have been able to tell and the bonds I have been able to make along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For my avid hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, Arizona has some amazing regional parks. Check out Cave Creek Regional Park for those desert views, Superstition Mountain for the giant rocky views, and Lake Pleasant Regional Park for those grey rocky water views. I am a country lover at heart, Road Runner Saloon and Buffalo Chip Bar are two MUST SEES. They have live bull riding and swing dancing that will leave you with some fun memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been many people who have helped nurture me and push me, because they saw my potential prior to the potential coming to light. Before I even picked up my camera, my mother enstilled in me, “pursue a job that you LOVE. If you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”. No dream was ever too unrealistic or out of reach. Later on, early into my photography and filmmaking career, I was also working full-time at an insurance company. I had limited experience but I had a BIG dream of becoming something more. When I sat down with my boss, Phelps, I was prepared for him to tell me, “quiting a stable job like this is a huge risk.” Instead, he told me how much he beleived in me and encouraged me to chase after your dreams because he KNEW that I could make that dream a reality.
