We had the good fortune of connecting with Edna Alejandra Bernal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edna Alejandra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur since I can remember. As a young girl, I admired my grandmother who immigrated to the U.S. with her 6 children and started a business shortly after. Each of her children, including my mother, all became business men and women of their own. And every single one of them are unique artists. I’ve always believed that if they could do what one might believe to be unimaginable, through determination and persistence, I could do the same. Now, it’s taken me a while to figure out how I was going to do this. As an artist and creative, I’ve pursued so many different passions. It wasn’t until I wove my first plant hanger that I knew this would be the way I’d express myself artistically to the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a macrame artist in Tucson, Arizona.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends who became family are the inspiration behind my creativity. Without their encouragement and support, I wouldn’t have the confidence to go beyond the norm and find my niche in a world full of incredibly talented artists. I owe them everything.
