We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul and Tasia Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul and Tasia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Our favorite affirmation is: Seed time and harvest. It means that you must plant a seed, give it time and you will reap a harvest. This affirmation was the foundation to a quote of my own that is now featured on the backs of our shirts: Dreams become goals and goals become reality. We included this quote to remind people that your dreams are seeds that must be planted. The goals you set and accomplish in time will hep you measure progress until you can reap the harvest of the realty of a dream fulfilled. We like it because it is a steady reminder that there is always a way to have what you want if you are willing to put in the work. You always have seed that can be sown. You can sow your time, energy, money, talents, and more. Give it time and you will reap a harvest.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Family is at the core of what we do. When we started before we could afford to hire someone we had the blessing of family and friends. We learned that its important to take care of those who take care of you just like in a family. We have a culture here. We work hard and we play hard. Hot sauce is our industry, but we are in the people business. We invest in each other. Many of our team members didn’t start out with experience. For us that is perfectly ok. The one thing that all of our team members possessed was a willingness to learn and commit to the Big Red’s way. Most, if not all of our team members have expressed an interest in business and the dream of becoming entrepreneurs. We always encourage it and aren’t afraid to let them fly when their time has come. When you treat people well you will never be without a fan and a helping hand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie and I would have to take them somewhere that could only be experienced here in AZ. Monday Morning we would start at desert donuts a local donut spot in North phoenix. We would get the breakfast bowl it has a donut as the base covered with egg, sausage gravy, bacon, and cheese. For lunch we would have to go to Naked BBQ. Brisket is great. Tuesday we would have to visit Sedona, Payson, and, Show low. Wed – Thursday they would get an inside look at the prepping process and then the sauce making process. Friday we would have to visit the Grand Canyon. The weekend would be all about small business. We would hit up the local farmers markets and breakfast and lunch would be provided by local vendors.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to shoutout our family, friends and our team! It is a blessing to have family near by that is willing to assist you in your efforts even if they may not always understand them. Our mothers have been instrumental in our success. We decided to go into business and later found out that we were expecting our first child. Then we added 2 more children to the equation. Our mothers stepped in to look after them while we worked. On many occasions they even offered to watch them so that we could rest and get a break. Our friends that wouldn’t ask for anything even though they knew we would gladly give it. Instead they logged onto our website and made a purchase as a customer. True friends that would step up to offer true support. Sharing our posts on social media and talking about our brand to people that they knew. The team has grown and changed over the years, but our saying is “once Big Red’s always Big Red’s”. All of our team members believed in the vision and most if not all have gone on to start businesses of their own. They gave of their talents and we appreciate them willing to take on an uncommon role and do so with a smile. We are thankful to our siblings for assisting with websites, childcare, markets, and much more! We love you and we want you to know that you have played in our success.
