We had the good fortune of connecting with Perla Isabel – Interstellar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Why did you pursue and artistic or creative career? Art is the only way I know how to maneuver through life. The only way I can describe it as is the incarnation of madness that goes on within my mind as it goes off in a million tangents my work is the same. I am an artist of various forms, I have done Fashion/ Runway Modeling for designers such as Cathy Garcia, who has styled for celebrities such as Bruno Mars and Ringo Starr. I have also styled models and created original concepts for photoshoots captured by my husband and creative partner, JKWVSS (JakeWaves). The list goes on, Painting, Light Art Installations, interior design, singing, playing bass, & Poetry. As of recently, I founded a creative social event team, Twelfth House. It encapsulates my interests into one home for all artists to be a part of. I can’t put it into a small description as to why I chose Art because it’s such a grand picture for the way I live life, it was never a choice, it’s just who I am. I have always felt a connection to the duality of the Universe. There is a balance between light and dark, highs and lows… and my art is a rendition of such energies. A lot of my paintings are UV reactive, creating a new insight for the viewer, where colors are illuminated variables that are dependent on the light in which they are shown. Much like ourselves, we shine differently depending on the people around us, environments, and our complex emotions. I see humanity as Light beings and I try to encapsulate the light of the human psyche in works of my ART, each color and light refraction pertaining to a different emotion. I hope that by creating something tangible my works can help others understand their layers as a person. We are multifaceted beings that’s why I do not focus on one area, I also have done lights Art installations that are connected to my paintings, such as my “Cloud” that was created first and inspired my latest work “ Her head’s in the Clouds”; A collage of pages from a 60’s book from Thomas A. Harris, I’m OK, you’re OK. This piece is very dear to me as the pages talk about depression, which is something I have been able to overcome through my art. My poetry is another form of release for me, a lot of it is a collection I keep and some can be found on my Instagram @InterstellarTraveler. I hope to one day combine my bass skills with my poetry to make music. Interior design is the way I express my way of living, to be inspired you must live inspired and I create spaces to help develop such growth. My interior design style is very whimsical and Tim Burtonesque, where tentacles turn doorknobs to lead to a new world of artistic madness. With this being some of my main art focuses it became obvious to me and my partner, JKWVSS, that we should develop something greater than ourselves, Twelfth House. This project is one that I am most proud of, as it consists of over 200 creatives that encompass all forms of art, and styles through music, visuals, and flow arts. It has also been one of the most challenging yet satisfying because it’s not about me or my art, it’s about everyone as a collective and I know that when artists come together to form something like this the world can be revolutionized. These creatives have inspired me into new territories, such as the world of Fashion. I am now working with published models and photographers on Fashion shoots. I hand create props and style for these shoots, it has been such an exhilarating experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I believe everyone should go up north. Connecting with nature helps inspire and replenish the soul. I love going to Sedona where many vortexes are found, I take my crystals and my singing bowl to meditate. Not only does it recharge my crystals but also my soul. I started a crystal shop on Instagram @interstellarcrystals to help others connect with these frequency light beings so that others may evolve into their divine self. Of course, I would recommend anyone who is looking to connect with like-minded souls to come to Twelfth House in downtown Phoenix. It is such a beautiful community of unity and love with an appreciation for the arts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no doubt that JKWVSS is the backbone of everything that I do. In the short time that we have been married, we have accomplished so much together. He has enabled tremendous growth in me not only as an artist but as a person. JKWVSS is a founder for Twelfth House, he creates flyers, works on promotional videos and photography but mainly focuses on his field of work as a Music Producer. You can find his music on Spotify, JKWVSS, and on Instagram @JakeWavess. I also would like to thank everyone that is a part of Twelfth House, all of this would’ve not been made possible without the collaborative efforts of every single artist. There are so many names to mention, but I would recommend visiting our Instagram page @TwelfthHousePHX for more details on each individual. Lastly, of course, my parents, who have supported me in all my artistic endeavors and molding me into the person that I am today.
