We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Goodman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I truly believe if you do what you love, it does not feel like work. I thought, if I could do what I love every day, and have it happen to pay my bills, why not?! I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. My thought process was this- being my own boss is better than having others tell you what to do. I would so much rather do things that fulfill me, and make me happy, rather than working for someone else doing something I don’t like. I started my dog sitting business at age 20, at age 23 graduated with my masters degree, and by age 25, I officially became a full time entrepreneur. I have my own social media management business, as well as a dog sitting business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my commitment to turning my passions into successful businesses. My personal involvement in every aspect of my businesses ensures that I deliver quality and consistency. I build real relationships and genuinely enjoy what I do, and people can see that, as opposed to someone who is just working for money. My Instagram presence (@Raylationshipcontent and @rachelroveraz) reflects not only my professional expertise but also my authentic self. Being truly who I am, and showing up authentically is how I got here. I am most proud of getting my masters degree at age 23 and becoming a full time entrepreneur at age 25. Along the way I have learned that if you want something, you have to truly go for it yourself. You are the only one counting on you. When I quit everything to be full time with my businesses, many family members questioned if it was the right choice. But I never once questioned it. I did believe in myself the whole way. And now, 2 years later, I can say I am a 6 figure entrepreneur. I want everyone reading this to believe in themselves and go after their dreams. You gut will never steer you wrong.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to eat at Chelsea’s Kitchen near the biltmore. I would take them to B.E.G Bakery for dessert. I would take them to Ifly to do indoor skydiving, I would take them to Sedona to hike near oak creek, & I would take them to Schmooze coffee for some drinks.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I worked really hard, by myself, to get to where I am. I didn’t grow up with a lot, anf from the time I was 16 I started working and paying y own bills. Social media has really helped me build my dog business to what it is now, and I want to thank instagram for that. But I also think I deserve to thank myself because being an entrepreneur with multiple businesses takes a lot of work and dedication. I also want to thank my husband for being along with me for the ride of entrepreneurship for over 8 years.
