We had the good fortune of connecting with Radha Sotomayor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Radha, how does your business help the community?
The heart’s mirror was born out of an overflow of love and gratitude for all those who empowered me to live a more balanced and joyful life and a strong desire to empower others to do the same. I build relationships with my clients by being a good listener and providing encouragement, support, some playful persuasion, and a gentle nudge from a loving and experienced hand so they too can live a more balanced, empowered yet simple and joyful life.
As a KonMari Consultant (Professional Organizer trained by Marie Kondo) I help my clients declutter and organize through the life-changing KonMari® Method. I also recognize that some of my clients simply need a professional organizer to come in and tidy up so I also help my clients with special projects, downsizing, organizing the pre/post moving process, and in some cases I become their support through tough times like loss of a loved one organizing. I love that I get to help my clients declutter in a joyful and graceful way by focusing on what sparks joy in their lives instead of worrying about what to discard. I’m not there to judge and force anyone to discard things. I am there to become their loving and compassionate support by transforming their space into a sanctuary. I am grateful that I get to make a difference in my community in this way and ultimately the world because we are all connected.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve worked with all kinds of wonderful families and unique individuals of all ages for over 12 years. I’ve been a supernanny, daycare owner, caretaker, and house manager. In all my jobs, I organized for fun! I had no idea I could become a professional organizer until I came across Marie Kondo (oh what a glorious day!). I ordered all her books and was immediately hooked to her Netflix show “Tidying up with Marie Kondo”. I read “The life changing magic of tidying up”, “Spark Joy” and “Joy at Work” in a week! I knew she was my teacher and I was going to become a KonMari Consultant somehow. There was a big price tag and a lot of hoops to go through, including the pandemic. That didn’t stop me though, I knew if it was meant to be things would fall into place. The next day of having this internal conversation and setting that intention, I woke up to exactly the amount I needed to sign up to begin the process of obtaining my certification! My sister, who lives on the other side of the US and had no idea of my desire and intentions, sent over this amount because the night before she felt that I really needed it. Talk about Divine intervention!! Long story short, I signed up and took the course, went through the certification process and launched my business successfully all within 4 months!
There is absolutely nothing we cannot do when our desires align with our purpose and we stay true to who we are. I’ve lived this over and over. I am so grateful and humbled by the grace and love of the Divine and all my brothers and sisters in this world who constantly inspire and support me. This is one of the reasons why I named my business The Heart’s Mirror.
Presently, I am the only KonMari Consultant in Tucson, AZ which means I am the only Professional Organizer trained and certified by Marie Kondo. With my business, my intention is to help others reflect on where they’re at and where they desire to be by simply becoming their heart’s mirror. I empower them to create a home environment where they can THRIVE by being surrounded by the things that speak to their hearts and spark joy!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to one of the beautiful programs at Bhava Wellness either for yoga, wisdom talks, meditation, kirtan (mantra music) and more.
I would have a list of my favorite hiking places like Mount Lemmon, Sabino Canyon, Tanque Verde Falls, Gates Pass… etc.
I would take them downtown for a salsa dance class and social. (It’s down now but I am hoping they start doing those again soon!)
I’m plant based so I would take them to Beaut Burger, Tumerico, Govinda’s Natural Buffet or if my friend is not plant based I would go to Chaiteria, Cafe Desta, or Charro Vida so we have something on the menu for both of us.
There’s definitely more but these are probably my first thoughts.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that we are all here today because of the love and support of all those who have paved the way for us. In my case I have a very long list but I will try to keep it short. I am grateful for my spiritual teachers and community from the Bhakti Tradition who inspire me and empower me to keep growing in my connection to Divinity and those around me through loving devotional service. I am Grateful for my teacher Marie Kondo who also inspires me in my business endeavors and in life in general and of course! My family, including my wonderful husband, they love and support me no matter what!
