We had the good fortune of connecting with Raudys C Cambet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raudys C Cambet, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
After actively dedicating myself to Judo and practicing this martial art from the age of 8 until 25, life took an unexpected turn. An unfortunate twist marked the end of my career in Judo, but instead of giving up, I decided to explore a new passion. That’s how I immersed myself in the fascinating world of underwater photography.

What many strangers probably don’t know about this industry is the complexity and unique challenges we face when capturing images underwater. The lack of natural light as we dive into the depths, color distortion, and limited visibility are just some of the obstacles we encounter. Additionally, underwater photography requires specialized equipment such as water-resistant housings and underwater lights to overcome technical difficulties.

The transition from martial arts, in this case, Judo, to underwater photography was not only a shift in my career but also in my perspective towards marine life. Becoming a passionate advocate for marine conservation became an integral part of my journey. My images not only capture the beauty of the ocean but also aim to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our precious aquatic ecosystems.

In summary, underwater photography is not just about pointing and shooting underwater. It’s a unique experience that involves overcoming technical challenges, understanding the behavior of marine life, and becoming a passionate advocate for underwater conservation. My story reflects the diversity of paths that individuals can take when diving into the underwater world, finding a new passion after facing unexpected twists in life, even after actively practicing Judo.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art focuses on underwater marine photography, a medium that has allowed me to explore the unique and fascinating beauty of underwater environments. What truly sets me apart is the combination of my experience in martial arts, specifically in Judo, with my passion for capturing images underwater. This fusion of discipline, focus, and appreciation for nature has provided a unique perspective in my art.

Furthermore, my career as a producer has further expanded my creative horizons. I’ve had the privilege of creating commercials, music videos, and covering corporate events for renowned national companies such as Nationwide and Chase. I’ve also collaborated with significant entities, including the National Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and had the opportunity to document standout events like the Polo Bentley Event in Scottsdale.

As a producer, I’ve achieved a significant milestone by creating an upcoming international film. This film is a co-production involving five countries: Cuba, the United States, Holland, Curacao, and Spain. It’s a project that reflects my ability to work collaboratively on a global scale and embrace cultural diversity in the creation of cinematic works.

Since childhood, my passion for diving has been rooted in the beautiful shores of the Caribbean in Guantánamo, Cuba. The crystal-clear waters and rich marine life of this region have been the source of my inspiration, directly influencing my deep connection with the underwater world.

Reaching where I am today professionally has been a journey filled with challenges and unexpected turns. After retiring from Judo due to unfortunate circumstances, I found a new form of expression and exploration in underwater photography and audiovisual content production. Adapting to the technical complexities of underwater photography and video production was not easy, but each challenge became an opportunity to learn and improve.

I overcame these challenges through a combination of perseverance, continuous learning, and adaptability. The transition from a completely different field, such as martial arts, to underwater photography and video production was a significant change, but each obstacle strengthened my determination and skills.

On this journey, I’ve learned valuable lessons about patience, observation, and the importance of marine conservation. Each dive has taught me to understand and respect the delicate balance of underwater life. My story is a reminder of how passion can take you to unexpected places and how adversity can become an opportunity for growth.

What I want the world to know about me and my art is that beyond capturing beautiful images, my work has a broader purpose: advocating for marine conservation. Each photograph is a window into the amazing underwater biodiversity, and my experience as a producer has allowed me to expand my creativity and participate in diverse projects, from commercials to high-profile corporate events. That’s why my company is named SEA STUDIOS FILMS WITH AN ORCA AS A LOGO, a symbol that encapsulates my deep connection with the ocean and the cultural diversity I embrace in my cinematic work. My story is a testimony to the ability to reinvent oneself and find new passions, even after facing unexpected challenges.
