Meet Reena Friedman Watts | Mompreneur & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Reena Friedman Watts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reena, what do you want your legacy to be?
Your legacy can be tied to someone else’s legacy. My dad taught me this. We are t just living for ourselves we are living for those who came before us and after us. Additionally a lot of guys want a son to carry on their name and their legacy. A daughter can do that too!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got my start in radio at an NPR station at Purdue University. That job led to an interview at WGN in Chicago. I didn’t get the job but I saw a flier in the same courtyard that Jerry Springer was looking for interns. I went from intern to producer in one season! Was that easy? It seemed like it! I soon realized after I left that show and moved to LA what a big opportunity that had been and had to start all the way over!
I’ve learned it’s how are you willing to work! If you believe in yourself and have encouragement you can make it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love comedy! I love artists! I love people who put their voice out there into the world and take up space! I would go to a speakeasy where comedians are working on their jokes, a local theater where actors have memorized their lines, and open mics where people are tested their material! There is a lot to learn in the real world and the imaginary!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be able to put my neck out there and ride the waves of entrepreneurship if my husband wasn’t holding down the corporate 9-5. He’s my rock and my encourager. I don’t thank him enough!
