Hi Repeka, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Sharing aloha in any form helps all communities. Wiki as a company exemplifies that. Malasadas, Hawaiian style donuts, reflect the culture of yummy eats & happiness. One of the best parts of the business, is getting to know our community more closely. When they discover how amazing the donuts taste, it’s all up from there.

Secondly, keeping a strong local economy is extremely important to me. During the Covid business closures, people became more aware of supply chain interruptions. As a business owner, I have a greater understanding of the logistics involved as a producer and consumer. The more we understand, the better prepared we can be in any situation.

Also, recently, we were able to partner up with an organization PolyPrasie and donate a portion of our sales to their cause. Their organization helps foster youth with resources & material necessities. We look forward to working with them and other causes in the future.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a local, family-owned business serving topnotch malasadas (Hawaiian style donuts). We receive rave reviews, even from people who’ve had malasadas in Hawaii. We have something for everyone. We offer plain, traditional fillings, tropical flavors and have featured flavors, regularly. Favorite flavors change amongst our family and customers.

When the opportunity opened, my husband Fata was instantly supportive. When we first started, we sold on Fridays only. Since then, we continue to expand into other markets such as farmer’s markets, events & businesses.

We hope that when our customers try our malasadas or meet any of us, you know that we appreciate them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have to say the East Valley has some great eats and places to visit. Here are some, in no particular order.

Breakfast: Snooze: love their pancakes

Crown Plaza: This hotel’s eggs benedict is delicious

Lunch or dinner:

Blue 32: Their staff is very friendly & attentive, also killer steak meal deal

The Ostrich (speakeasy): favorite charcuterie board & cool, prohibition style décor

Culinary Dropout: Great place for all but especially families. There is covered outdoor recreational area where you can play foosball, bean bag toss or just move around.

Shu Sushi Ramen & Grill: It’s a score when you can get quality sushi and yummy ramen at the same place.

Crust Simply Italian: great menu and seating outside has a great view of downtown

Singh Meadows: This place reminds me a bit of wine country in the middle of Tempe. It’s a gem with an organic farmer’s market, delicious food in store & on site. Enjoy walking the property. They also have events.

Downtown Chandler Farmer’s Market: We’re there along with other local businesses.

Activities:

Improvmania: Our family loves this place! There offer family shows and shows for adults. They’re great with audience participation. Every time we go, we’re lighter from smiling and laughing the entire time.

Majestic Theatres: Great menu they can serve in the theatre, reclining seats are comfy.

Veterans Oasis Park: scenic walking trails, fishing lake and beautiful monument to our veterans of the U.S. military

Tumble Weed Park: They have a large community center along with a large park area. There’s plenty of open play areas, play structures and shade.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family gets credit for the support and talent that they lend. My husband supports the business in all ways. I’m grateful that he has primarily supported our family while helping to care for my dad and partially homeschooling our kids. This business has helped to revitalize dormant parts of my skill sets as well. My children are learning so much. They give of their time and efforts as well. My parents and especially my mom enjoys helping. Their example has led to all of their children and grandkids living nearby. My siblings, spouses and their children contribute greatly to the business, regularly. Oh! And I have a ton of extended family that is always willing to lend a hand. I am blessed and fortunate to have them all.
