We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Kornblum and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be able to do a job where I could work from home, work for myself, set my own hours, and be location-independent.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I help mission-driven individuals and small businesses grow their communities by designing and developing purposeful websites that build connections & foster community around a cause.
I began my career as a middle school math teacher working mainly with students with special needs. After 12 years in education, I decided that I wanted to leave the classroom and start a new career.
I had designed a website for a group that I was a part of in need of a new website. I had no idea what I was doing at the time, but the website was hugely successful for the group and allowed them to sell out all of the classes that they offered. When COVID started someone I knew from the group asked me to help them with their website because they needed to quickly create an online presence since everything at the time was online. After building my second website I decided that I should figure out what I was actually doing and I might be able to make a career out of it.
Since then I’ve built countless websites and worked with some amazing people and companies. Every company, person, website, and needs are different. It presents a puzzle that needs to be solved, strategies that need to be implemented, and solutions that need to be developed in order to give the business a unique online presence that will help them to stand out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I got my start with Julia Taylor and the GeekPack on Facebook. Julia runs the most supportive group of mostly women web designers and developers on Facebook. Samantha Munoz and Karyn Paige taught me how to take my business to the next level and create systems and processes to enhance the client experience.
