We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhyan Geiger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rhyan, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson is to never give up. The business will ebb and flow and sometimes it’s more fun than others. The most important thing I’ve ever done is not give up even when things were really tough. Every time I’ve thought of giving up shortly after something really cool comes and makes a positive impact. Also, always trust your gut! If something seems off or not right, listen to your intuition.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since 2018 I have been a vegan registered dietitian. Becoming a dietitian is quite challenging and requires 5 years of higher education as well as passing a national exam. After completing school and passing the exam I decided to focus on vegan nutrition. I became vegan in 2016 and have always had a passion for educating people about veganism. At this time I spend my free time educating people 1:1 and in group settings while also working for brands and companies to provide media quotes, product videos, and nutrition writing.
One of the most difficult areas of my business is taking it full time to make a larger impact. I am hopeful that I will be able to educate and help so many more people to make a big impact full time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would eat and drink until we were blue in the face. First, we would start by taking a trip to Northern Arizona to see the Grand Canyon (a must-do for all out-of-state visitors). We would spend one day there and come back driving through Sedona stopping at Virgin Cheese in Clarkdale. Maybe visiting Jerome for a ghost tour for fun. After that, we would come back to Phoenix and relax. For dinner ordering from a vegan restaurant is another must-do and then watching a movie. After we are recharged and ready to roll again we may go hiking, visit the library, go down the salt river and enjoy time outside. There is so much to do I don’t know that 7 days would be enough time together!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I decided to become vegan a little over 6 years ago after watching the documentary Cowspiracy, so shout out to Netflix and the movie creators for making the documentary accessible! I have been interested in making an impact on the environment since I was a small child so that really sealed the deal and I haven’t looked back!
