We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricky Kidd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ricky, what inspires you?
Making the world a better place; Seeing people having the opportunity to stretch themselves into new realms of possibilities & knowing that I am one of the individuals on this earth that can help others achieve that goal.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think my story helps the world realize their own story. Overcoming difficulties & challenges can be frustrating & deflating, however seeing others rise from beneath the rubble does something to the human spirit. It motivates us to spring into action & realize our deepest potential. It’s only hidden until realized, it is then that a person rises to their own new heights while breaking the very mental chains that held them captive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Coming up on my three year freedom day (the day I was released from prison) , one might say everything is still so new to me. While I can’t say what that perfect day may look like I’m learning what I like!

Savory, hot, fresh food. Lounge style music or a stroll on the town, maybe some jazz to wind down! Or possibly an adventure to a new place with a new experience. Recently I was with friends overlooking downtown Nashville & instead of getting out we stayed in. We ate Indian food, spoke of future dreams & made music with instruments my friend had collected from all over the world. It was a very interesting moment. I’d say I learned the power of living in the moment & what magic can be sparked when we look within! Try something new today!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Once in a lifetime we encounter a person who changes our life forever… If you’re lucky then maybe you have two in a life time. For me, it’s my lawyer Sean O’brien. He pressed, sacrificed time & ultimately shattered the claws of injustice that were clenched around me. Feeling like I was suffocating when we met, Sean genuinely helped get me where I am today. A free man in a free society & walking in my purpose daily.

Mr. Obrien , is more than a law professor who teaches our next generation. He embodies the very example we all should be when it comes to fighting for what is right and just in this world.
