We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Olson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We are Sedona’s only Nature Resort. Having nine acres in a rustic setting on Oak Creek is just one of our unique highlights. Having staff that have all worked here for many years, most for over thirty years, offers repeat guests the opportunity to see familiar faces and build friendships. Placing our focus on exceeding each guests experience is what sets us apart. Providing a laid back atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of town, our patrons can truly relax, rejuvinate, and reconnect with nature. We offer the best creekside massages available anywhare in Arizona! Our creekside massage gazebo can acommodate side by side couples massage, while the sound of the rushing creek below mezmerizes one into total bliss.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been here at Briar Patch for 30 years of our 43 years in business. prior to coming here to help out my parents, I worked overseas as an expat. I spent 9 years in Egypt and 4 years in Saudi Arabia. My job repairing helicopters that serviced the oil rigs. I learned that trade while serving in the US Army as a Chinook Crew Chief.
I truly enjoy being here and meeting new guests and visiting with our returning ones.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I do play golf and am a member at the private club in town, so that is always a highlight for me to take friends. There are some amazing views for the top of the mountain our there. I also have some favorite places to dine, and my wife actually ownes a restaurant nearby, so that is always a must visit. Of course, Briar Patch is something everyone wants to see and spend some time at and get a creeksiade massage.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Mom, JoAnn Olson, who created everything that makes Briar Patch so special. From the hand written guest welcome cards, to having our housekeepers tidy up your cabin while guests enjoy breakfast. Every thing that makes us stand our from the ordinary is her doing. At 97 she still loves to visit with guests and learn about where they are from and what brings them to Sedona.
