Meet Robert Avery | Drone Photographer + Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Avery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a person who recognized that there is more to this life than what is offered. Starting my own business has allowed me the opportunity to fully express my thoughts, ideas and perspective and thus, be able to share them with you. I’ve worked construction for many years, raised a child by myself and put a lot of time into building the skills, mind set and dreams I have now. I knew that starting my own business was a way to show my children that you can be who you are and people will find value in what you provide as long, as you stay true to yourself. I have to give credit to my wife, also, for being someone who has shown unwavering belief in my abilities, my art and me as a person. Her support and encouragement, as well as experience in running a successful business, has really helped my process in getting things started. The world is constantly evolving and the only advantage we have is that we are able to respond accordingly. Photography and videography is an ever expanding art form, and as people who strive to deliver these perspectives that speak of our own experience, we delight in being able to show that wonder to others as well. My thought process behind starting my own business was an understanding and an excitement to be able to join several passions of mine into one collective arrangement. That arrangement is called, Airwave Media Production.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey with art started at a relatively young age, I was 11 years old. My father bought me an old beat up Ibanez TR50 bass guitar from a pawn shop and that really began my dive into art. I used music for years before I realized the power of it. During my time of performing, I came to realize that art was a language and that it was understood by everyone no matter who they were. I also understood that every person standing there listening, was experiencing this moment in their own unique way and that the influence those moments have are everlasting; they matter. That feeling helped forge my belief in art and expression, and the effect it has on the human experience. The journey to where I currently find myself has not been easy, as I imagine many are not. I lost my father at the age of 16, and at 19 I traveled for my first time alone, to Sedona. My love and passion for creating art is something that has only ever grown. It’s my purest voice and a part of who I am. The main focus of Airwave Media Production is to build a community of enthusiasts by combining the various styles and techniques of photography and videography, and to provide unique and emotionally provoking visuals that keep you holding on until the end in search for more. My goal is to be your catalyst into a life of curiosity and discovery! Airwave Media Production specializes in wedding videography, supporting local and commercial business, real estate, editing services, drone photography/videography and special events. With more exciting plans for expansion in the future, the sky is only the beginning here!! I welcome you to join an already growing community of like minded people and purposes, and follow along with the journey!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s Sedona!! Walk outside and I promise you will find an uncontrollable smile stretching across your face. There are four vortex hikes that have no other explanation than that they’re simply incredible; these are truly unforgettable places to visit and each one offers its own unique experience. For another scenic must-see, cross over and take a hike at Midgley Bridge. After you’ve met divinity in the scenery of Sedona, I would highly recommend walking through the town and seeing the hundreds of stores and local art galleries. Some of the most beautiful artwork you will ever see resides within uptown Sedona and throughout. Spend an afternoon talking to the locals and hearing the rich history of the community and you won’t regret a single moment. There are live performances taking place all the time, too, so when you visit, be sure to see the local talent Sedona has to offer! Oak Creek Brewery is always a blast, and the performing arts center hosts events throughout the year. Have I mentioned the cuisine? I could write an entire article on the diversity and craftsmanship of some of the dishes you will see. Several businesses here hold a place in this shoutout, but I will mention only 3: Pump house, Hideaway House and Karen’s Gluten Free Bakery are top on my list to experience. There is so much to take in here, and so much nearby that it is impossible to not enjoy yourself and get lost in the marvel of your surroundings. I highly encourage everyone to visit at least once in their lifetime!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is why I love Shoutout!
I am honored to dedicate this shoutout to my beautiful wife and her photography business, Tori Elizabeth + Company! She is a one of a kind photographer and human. She offers an entire experience through her work and the vision she has that is so uniquely beautiful and important. From bringing unforgettable memories of a wedding day to life, to celebrating the birth of a newborn, to celebrating and empowering the female form through boudoir photography, she’s an unstoppable force and someone I admire in every sense. Find her work featured in WeddingWire, or via Instagram @torielizabethandcompany, and on Facebook! Visit her website www.teandcompany.com for investments and additional work samples. None of this would be possible without her love and support, and so with that, I am eternally grateful for the dedication you show to your work, to your family and to yourself. Never stop being the shining light that you are for so many people.
