Meet Rodolfo Reyes | Executive Chef, Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodolfo Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodolfo, how do you think about risk?
Risk is essential for growth! You can’t expect things to just happen because you dreamed them up, there has to be some skin in the game. That something that steals some sleep and keeps you crossing your t’s and dotting your I’s. When you go over the plan for the thousandth time to make sure your project is going to be a success and you think of what it would mean to fail… what’s at risk is what makes you go over the plan once more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started in the dish pit, I did all the jobs no one had the time for or preferred not to do. This taught me the complete cycle, I was able to understand the process and see what part everyone plays in making things happen on the daily. This helps me be better and step in where I’m needed.
I am the most proud of owning the kind of company people like to show up to work at. I’m excited for the amount of different ways we present our food to our clients.
I got to this point professionally by showing up to work and giving it a solid effort, learning from everyone I could and then applying that experience to my business. It has been a long road with plenty of challenges, it hasn’t come easy or without sacrifice. In order to overcome the challenges, you have to have your goal very clearly set, even if the path isn’t. You may have to re-route here and there.
You learn how to have solutions rather than excuses. I’ve learned that being able to withstand the hard times is much more valuable than thinking you can control every variable.
The teams at Culinary Brigade Private Chef and Choice Nutrition Meal Prep are true professionals who have the interest of our clients at heart. We understand that it is a privilege to be able to serve our clients. They trust us with one of the most personal services you can provide, we feed thousands of people and make sure they always want more. We do not compromise quality of product, service or experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We can catch a D-Backs game one day. See the line up at one of the comedy clubs another day. Check out what art exhibits are open around the valley. Grab a bite at H Mart’s food court for some Ramen or Bibimbap. Grab dinner at La Hacienda. Get some tacos at Tacos Rojos. Go mountain biking in the white tanks or the Ocotillo and sidewinder trails in north PHX. Check out First Friday and check out the grub along the way. Chat for a bit at Charro Hipster while learning about mezcal. Day trip to Sedona.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people that have been there from the beginning and even before, hearing the idea and being a wall to bounce ideas off of. The group of individuals who have provided their time and experience to turn our promises into amazing client experiences.
Every true professional I’ve come across while working in every kitchen crew I’ve been a part of.
