We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabrina Hargrave and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabrina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve been motivated by living a life that promotes freedom, joy, happiness, balance, and helping others. I’ve had many opportunities to work for other businesses and to create my own ventures, finding joy in both experiences. However, I find that freedom, flexibility, and maintaining a healthy, balanced life come more easily with my entrepreneurial endeavors. I understand the stresses of being a business owner and have carefully evaluated the risks and rewards. The empowerment that comes from making my own schedule and decisions about how my business is operated far outweighs the variables that might deter someone else from starting their own business. With this mindset, I have much more energy to help others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Wunderbar Wellness, is a wellness collective offering various healing modalities for those seeking balance, pain relief, alignment, and self-awareness. Clients can choose from several providers available on my website, www.wunderbarwellness.com.

I started this wellness business during my own healing crisis while caring for my mother during her terminal illness from 2010 to 2014. At the time, I was a financial controller for an Alaska Native Corporation, following in my mother’s footsteps, who was a CFO of an Oilfield Service Company. Her cancer resurfaced after a stressful event at her company, and the news devastated our family. My health started to decline, and I realized I needed to re-evaluate my life. My husband and I sold our home in Alaska and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to be near my mother.

I faced all the hard questions and took a huge leap of faith, quitting my career to become a massage therapist and energy worker. Spending every moment I could with my loved ones while in school, I noticed my own healing process beginning. The classes and mindset books helped me grow stronger, and when my mother passed, I was able to be there for my family and myself.

Moving forward after her passing was challenging but rewarding. My mother taught us to never give up, to understand that everything happens for a reason, and to learn and grow from every experience. Her teachings pushed me to evaluate my life deeply, leading to my business, education, self-care, healing, and ultimately having my children.

My business is unique because I empower people to take charge of their own stories, creating healing through questioning their current narratives and adjusting their mindsets. By calming their nervous systems, they can align their physical, mental, and quantum bodies. I provide a non-judgmental space where people can speak their deepest truths and not hide from themselves. Adding deeper layers like polarity and energy release through discussion to physical massage makes the healing process even more profound.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to acknowledge and thank the following people, groups, and books for all the inspiration and guidance that have helped shape me into who I am today and for the joy and potential I look forward to creating in the future.

First, I want to thank my late mother, Renate Schnell. She was my first guide in this world, showing me love, kindness, and unwavering support. Her resilience and dignity were a great example for me, and her passing was a significant factor in my pursuit of helping people in health and wellness.

My husband, Chris Hargrave, has been my rock with his unconditional love and support. Navigating this journey with him has been an incredible experience, and I look forward to creating even more together. Our children have been such a gift and blessing, teaching me daily about the beauty and challenges of life and reminding me to stay present and see the world through their curious eyes.

My siblings, Farrah McLaughlin, Dagny Smith, and Chris Hill, have been incredibly supportive in every business venture I’ve pursued. They’ve referred clients, provided business start-up loans, brainstormed strategies, and have been all-around amazing.

I also want to thank influential friends like Rachel Hightower, Calesta Ayer, Rachel Beers, Yesenia Ocampo, Marci Edmunds, Linda Green, Amanda Clark, Megan Grimes, and Nicole Ferguson. My clients, who have become wonderful friends, support me by continuing to experience healing with me and referring their friends and family.

Groups that have mentored and influenced my growth include Innersource – Donna Eden – Energy Medicine, MindValley, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, John Burgos – Beyond the Ordinary, Byron Katie – The Work, and Eckhart Tolle – Sounds True.

Books that have deeply impacted me include “Conversations with God” by Neale Donald Walsch, “The Quantum Body” by Deepak Chopra MD and Dr. Brian Fertig MD, “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle, “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and John David Mann, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, “The Untethered Soul” by Michael A.
