Meet Salina Higgins: Permanent Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Salina Higgins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Salina, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my passion for what I do! Making women feel beautiful and confident is an amazing job to have! Passion and alot of hard work and hustling! Good things come to people who are honest and hard working!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have people tell me all the time that I’m a true artist…I always respond with: I am no artist! I can barely draw a stick person! Im just someone who has an eye for what others might not! I can envision an eyebrow that you yourself may have never considered. No two faces are alike and they should not be treated that way! Tons of factors go into a brow appointment with me and its not just making lines and measurements, its about assessing your brow bone, your eyes, dominant brows, the reactions of your brows when your eyes are open and closed and so much more! So, if that makes me an artist, then I suppose I am, in my opinion, I just love what I do and can sympathize and empathize with having my own brows done almost 20 years ago! Ive used my own life experiences along with my own brow experiences to fuel the past 3 years of being in business. Growing up, I had such sparse eyebrows and when i discovered that “filling them in” could change my entire face I was hooked! Shortly after highschool I became a licensed Esthetician and that was the beginning of my career in the beauty industry! I owe my discovery of shaping brows to that schooling experience!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Tucson is the BEST! As long as you’re not visiting during the summer, then we can have an awesome time! Our downtown is absolutely amazing! We are a big college town and University Blvd has some of my favorite food joints, one of them being Frog & Firkin! THE BEST PIZZA in town and a HUGE beer selection! The owners are amazing and huge in the community and I love that! That would be a must stop! I love me some dive bars, so a stop at Che’s lounge on 4th Ave would be a must and if we’ve got the week, then I would suggest a trip up to Bisbee! Its less than two hours away, a little bit cooler in temps and is so much fun! Lots of antiquing, tons of good eating, saloon style bars, mining tours AND its home to St. Elmo bar, which is the longest continuously operating bar in the entire state of AZ!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to my daughter, Ariella. She was the drive behind ALL of this! As a single mom, failure wasn’t an option! So the long hours, the continued trainings, the up’s and downs with starting a business was fueled by the fact that I had to succeed, not just for financial purposes of being able to provide, but also to show my daughter that no matter where you are in life, its never to late to start over and to chase your dreams! She is in fact my biggest cheerleader and that in its self has been worth every late night and 80 hour work week!
