Meet Samantha Justice | Stylist/Barber & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Justice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Divine Instincts Hair Studio helps my community because I do my best to provide services which make you look amazing, but also help you feel amazing as well. The atmosphere here is all about growth and change, mixed in with a lot of love. When people come into my studio I want to help every customer love themselves in the mirror more, but also it’s important to provide them with a safe, peaceful space to wind down in. My motto of sorts for my shop is “where your heart’s condition matters just as much as your hair’a condition.” Being that we just opened last year I’m still finding my way into assisting my people more but my thought is it starts with me. That’s the foundation.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think the coolest asset of myself and my shop has to be that I am sort of a jack of all trades as they say in the hair business. I have been a licensed cosmetologist since 2015, but after that I trained with barbers for over 4 years. If it’s about your hair or face I can pretty much take care of you no matter what you’d like. Color, color correction, vivid colors, grey blending, cute, fades, beards, hot shaves, updos, waxing, facials, etc! Before I opened my own place I moved around different shops throughout my time and found that I learned something new every place I went and have just kept all that knowledge in my mind as I make moves. Being that I didn’t take out loans to start this business I went in with no business debt at all and I feel like that’s made it more peaceful for me not having to owe anything to anyone. The biggest thing I’d like people to know is that there are tons of amazing stylists and barbers but not all of them are meant for every person. I stay grounded in that whoever is meant to be in my chair makes it here. The less I stress and worry the easier things come peacefully.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I tell people about is always Downtown Yuma. It has such a warm eclectic feel that you can’t find in many other places anymore. The buildings have just been enhanced so all the historical feel is still massively engrained. Chile Pepper is a huge Yuma hit as well they’ll even ship food to you in dry ice if your too far away! We have some of the best Mexican food around being that we are so close to the border, which has to be my favorite kind of food. We have the Territorial Prison here as well which is now a museum where you can see how it used to be, even to a degree. The river and the sand dunes are pretty close as well so that makes for fun summer and winter activities. My favorite restaurant in town has to be River City Grill though because of the ridiculously delicious food, perfect relaxing atmosphere, and some of the best wine in town.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first off thank my beauty school teachers for the first real push into becoming something more. They helped me come out of the darkest time of my life and since then my life has become increasingly better. I would also like to thank my parents and sister for supporting my endeavors, and even if they didn’t quite understand them. I would like to thank my community of people who helped me build my shop from the ground up with no help from financial institutions as well. I couldn’t have done it without you guys.
