We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Ewing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been in the beauty/ wellness industry since 2008. I would take class after class but I always had a really hard time starting my own business. While I was travel bartending I was in recovery for some liposuction that I received about eight months before. A lot of the current modalities that I use for used on me at the time to resolve some scar tissue complications I had. I saw such beautiful results that I decided I would like to try to dive into this element of the industry myself. Once I got the ball rolling on my business, I realize that I had so much experience in the beauty and wellness industry that I was able to tie all of those not so successful ventures into a very successful venture. One day I realized I didn’t do everything for nothing, I did everything to reach where I am today. I’m not done yet! I’ve always really been into empowering other women. At one time, I taught teenage girls aerial dance, and I realized how much having a skill could empower a young woman. Not only am I out here trying to help other individuals feel better about their appearance and image in the world but I’m also really here to empower other women.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My background is insanely vast. I have always had a background in the beauty world since I was a kid. I learned how to color my own hair at a really early age because my mom was a hairdresser. I went to school for aesthetics because I thought I wanted to be a make up artist back in the early 2000s. back then I was doing a lot of weird, funky, art and photography. Granted, I never really achieved going down that path all the way. It really got me started in the concept of image and how the world perceives everything because of color and shape. My background as a dance teacher taught me so much about how skill can empower young women . My time behind the bar in the service industry taught me to be a therapist and judgment free listener . I have utilized travel in many things that I do. I have literally toured the United States with a fine tooth comb. I had a lot of time to think on the road about what I really wanted to do with myself in life. I’m so grateful that I had that time under my belt to experience everything around me and have the space to consider what’s really important. Ultimately, I just wanna help other women in the world feel good about themselves. I feel like we live in a world of media that likes to tear women down and judge them. It’s a tough place to exist. If somebody walks out of my office, feeling much better than they did when they walked in and I really did my job . Being a woman is not for the faint of heart. If I can help that process along, I’m into it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Gosh, you know I feel like I’m not gonna give you a very good answer on this. So I lived in Phoenix Arizona from the year of 2000 to 2006. I was a young broke a flight attendant. I didn’t really get to experience the area like I wanted to. I just got back here! The city has had so many beautiful and positive changes and I’m really impressed. I feel like I haven’t really seen enough to make judgments on whats great. I can tell you 100% that I would take them to some of the really beautiful restored, mid-century hotels in the area to go swimming and go to the rooftop bars. We would also definitely be doing a drive over to Prescott , and I would probably take them to Rocky point if I could. There’s so much to experience in this area and I feel like even myself I’m still discovering it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve had so many inspirations on this planet. I would have to say my first inspiration was Jamie Lynn O’Neill. Back when I was a laser tech, I worked under her and a small business in Portland, Oregon. She had her own line of cosmetics, and she wore so many hats all by herself! . I always wondered how somebody got from where I was to what she was doing. I really admire her. Secondly, I would like to thank Samantha Beaty . She was my first body contouring mentor. Her class was very comprehensive and she gave everything I needed to start. Coincidentally, she was one of my students when she was a teenager, but in reality, she taught me much more than I ever taught her. She’s considerably younger than me and she has such an awesome thing going on for herself. Someday I might be as cool as her. Lastly, I would really like to think my mom. I grew up in hair salons with my mom in the 80s. She’s been doing her craft for such a long time and I think that takes a lot of dedication. If it wasn’t for her and all of her support, I probably wouldn’t be nearly as independent as I am today.
