We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Southard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, how do you think about risk?
I have taken a lot of career risks in my life. I believe that without risk there is no reward. Sometimes things can be very hard and challenging but often those challenges bring you the greatest reward. The more risks I have taken i find more happiness in doing what I really love to do. I enjoy a challenge, when others say I can’t do something it fuels me to do better and more.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think what sets me apart is my drive and my attention to detail and patience with events. I don’t think owning any business is easy you sacrifice a lot of time with loved ones especially in the hospitality industry. I think the hardest part is getting the word out there social media is something that I’m starting to get more involved with. I come from the old school door to door sales, which I believe is also a big part of being successful and standing out. Face to face time with potential clients is always important. I feel like this business has brought me back to my more creative side. I love planning parties and coming up with cocktails. I have worked in the liquor industry since I am 18 years old and have met a lot of people and enjoy getting inspired by there cocktail creations.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depends on the friend! If its my group of G/fs from NY then we are going to Downtown Phx to enjoy a more artsy vibe The Pemberton is a cool spot , Love Baby Boy there! Then if there is something going on at the Orpheum Theatre we are def going there. I also love Bisbee Arizona I have made a lot of friends there and they would show my friends a great time. I also love Scottsdale for my boujee friends def Toca Madera who doesn’t like fire dancers? Then dance ourselves at Wasted Grain, I love live music. A relaxing day by the pool/massage at The Princess Hotel would be nice. And of course a hike in the mountains. There is one of my favorite restaurants in Mesa called Espiritu. Then we would end the night at White Rabbit in Gilbert! Oh and a dive bar cant miss a good dive bar prob Gilligans in Old Town

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Grandmother for sure! My whole theme is surrounded around her. I’m having a bigger car being built and that was the original and will be named Anna after my grandmother. She loved hummingbirds so my theme is hummingbirds and nature. Infact there is a humming bird species named Anna. The vespa I have now is named Rufous which is a species of hummingbirds. My family has always been very supportive of any entrepreneurial ideas that I have had and of course I have a great support system from my friends. My friend Kristin that owns a wedding planning service gave me the idea during covid.
