We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Reach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
For over 20 years I was a cannabis grower who was always pushing forward and innovating and it seemed I was always at work wether it was actual physically being in the grow or managing social media platforms. After the pandemic I realized how much I preferred to spend time with my family and traveling with them. The work mentality has definitely taken a more secondary role to allow myself more time to relax and enjoy life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out in the late 90’s as an underground grower who bred his own cannabis varieties. In 2009 I opened my first store Stone Mountain under Colorado’s medical cannabis program. I underwent treatment for cancer in 2010 and ultimately shut down that store. I started Rare Dankness as I was overcoming cancer in 2010 and started winning awards for varieties I had created. In 2016 i built a $6.5 million state of the art cannabis production facility in Colorado. I was able to get the private loan based on reputation and award winning genetics. I’ve always been known for quality and history with the plant. We are considered a legacy brand and our legacy has always been quality.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been in Colorado for over 20 years and love the mountains. I’d take them to Estes Park, see the Rocky Mountain National park , a drive up Mt Evans or Pikes Peak is a must since most people would never hike a 14’er. And you’d have to catch a concert at Red Rocks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My granddad ( LeeRoy) was the person responsible for my love of plants and gardening. He passed away in 96’ but I always imagine he’d have been fascinated by modern cultivation, hydroponics and the Business itself.
