We had the good fortune of connecting with Selma H and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Selma, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our company is based on what we have loved since we were young: music. We took our love and passion for music/artists and turned it into a way for fans to connect with each other. AZSPECIALTEA is still in its infancy but with the little time we’ve been running we’ve been able to connect hundreds of fans with our events.
We strive to build communities between fans both locally and online.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
AZSPECIALTEA began as a concept for fans to be connect with other fans, making it easier for everyone to interact with each other. As the months went by it became a bit harder to navigate and was left on the pause until I was able to fully understand what I wanted to do. I began teaching myself the new ways of event management as well as current fan interactions by interning for a Korean artist.

After months of putting aside I was ready to bring it to life. I no longer was the only face of AZSPECIALTEA and we began our new journey as a company. We knew from the start we wanted to set ourselves aside from other fan event planners by creating events that were new and fresh to our local base. After multiple rejections and prejudice from promoters we were given the chance to create our first big event. We are a couple months in and we are incredibly proud of the success we’ve had so far with our Tucson events as well as our bigger local events.

We are working on ways to introduce other fan groups into our mix of events! There’s more to come from us

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our world revolves around artists and fan events that I would always take my friends to a show or one of our dance nights at. the Nile Theater!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve always had a passion for event planning and my love for music have always collided. I have been a fangirl my entire life and I found a way to connect both of my passions, starting at 14 I would plan One Direction fan events then slowly progress as I got older. Now I am 24 with an amazing team with the same passions and will to grow our communities, both KPOP and Western music. AZSPECIALTEA is a company that owes all its success to its street team as well as the people who frequent our events, without them our vision for inclusion between fan groups would be nonexistent.

I also have to personally thank our promoter for taking a chance in us when no one else would. Thank you Bobby and Nameless Presents!
