We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaheen Siddiqui and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaheen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve been a physical therapist for 20 years, and for the first 13 years of my career I have always worked in a typical outpatient therapy setting, which I truly did enjoy. It was exciting, I and I learned so much from the patients I was able to work with. However, there was something that didn’t quite feel right, as I felt that my time with each patient was so rushed, because I was seeing 3-4 patients per hour. I felt that there had to be a better way to provide physical therapy, so that my patients could get more out of each session.

In mid-2016, I had an opportunity to rent a space inside of a personal training studio, and after much thought and deliberation, I took the plunge! This is EXACTLY what I had been wanting to do for so long, but didn’t realize it until the opportunity presented itself. The idea was that I would only treat one patient per hour, and provide very personalized care for each person. No more running around from one patient to the next, only spending 10-15 minutes with each one. Now, I had the chance to really make a difference in my patients’ lives, and give them the care that they deserve.

It’s been 7 years since I started my practice, and I am so grateful for this journey. I have learned so much, connected with the most amazing people, and I am truly doing what I love to do….which is to help people get back to what they want to be doing, in a natural, medicine free way!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business is Crossroads Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and I provide one on one, personalized physical therapy services – to help people feel and move better. I am now located in an awesome CrossFit gym, CrossFit Endless Summer in Chandler, and I am so grateful for this partnership.

What sets me apart from others is that I am able to spend a full hour with each patient, so that they can truly receive the care that they deserve. There is no rush when I am treating my patients, I take the time to truly listen to what their challenges are, and help them in the best way possible. This allows them to get the most out of each session. I am truly excited and proud of this, as I am able to provide a better experience for each patient and that was my goal when starting my own practice.

The journey to get to where my business is today has been interesting. As with all things in life, it has had its challenges.
The main struggle for me as a new entrepreneur was figuring out a good work/life balance. (If that exists!?) As a mom of four, my main priority is making sure I have quality time with my kiddos and hubby. Especially in the first year, I found myself struggling with this, but I have learned to become better at time blocking.

The other challenge as a new business owner is figuring out what works as far as marketing and getting the word out about how I can help people, and the value that physical therapy can provide. Nowadays, people have so many options as to where they can receive physical therapy, and it can become confusing to the potential patient. But, I am so grateful to have the support and insight of some amazing business coaches and mentors that have really helped me along the way. It is definitely a learning process, and I am still learning everyday!

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I will truly take the time to figure out the root cause of my patients pain and really listen to them. I will help them get back to living a pain free life. Rather than relying on pain pills or having unnecessary surgeries, physical therapy is a natural, long lasting way to reduce your pain and get back to the activities you love!
