We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelby, what’s your definition for success?
I would define success as that ah ha moment, when you realize your passion has become your life. Being able to do what you love every day and seeing others enjoy what you have created. It’s so fulfilling. That’s when you know you achieved real success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always been somewhat of a crafty nerd. My daughters and I would make homemade gifts for holidays and birthdays. We always had so much fun coming up with creative and clever ideas. It never really dawned on me back then that I could take that fun and excitement I had with my children making presents and turn it into a new way of life.
My favorite creation so far is my coloring book series “Let’s Build and Color” with the idea that children can always use a little extra encouragement so why not make it fun for them too. There are 5 coloring books, Let’s Build Character, Self-confidence, Self Control, Friendships, & Courage, each with words of encouragement and fun things to color. I recently added fun and creative designs to daily journals and notebooks. Being able to express my creative side and share it with the world brings a new kind of joy to my life. On top of my beautiful Golden Retrievers I’ve add amazon author Shelby Dee and I am excited for the future. 😁

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ohhhhhh what a good question.
When my friend was tired of hanging out with my dogs and puppies at the Brightness Beauties Farmhouse, we would definitely have lunch at Commodore Guadalajara Mexican food restaurant on Central. The absolute best Mexican food in all of Arizona. Depending on the time of year we’d take the boat out to Canyon Lake or we could go to the Phoenix Zoo and Zoo Lights.
A day at Turf Paradise and a night at Lone Butte Casino would definitely be part of the visit as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My youngest daughter, Angel has always been my biggest cheerleader. When she was growing up she was excited to try any new adventure I would come up with. I always dreamed of owning my own business and I tried a host of different things. One year we bought recipe books and cookie cutters to make homemade dog treats to sell at farmers markets. We even did Beanie Babies, we would get in line at 4 in the morning to buy the latest beanie baby to resell. Lol. When I started my kennel she was so supportive and helpful, and when I started to struggle with the kennel she had my back. Angel has always been my ride or die.
