We had the good fortune of connecting with Shranda Colón and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shranda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, I didn’t have one. I just didn’t want to work for someone else forever. I saw the struggles my parents went through and obviously didn’t want that for myself. I’ve been a single mom for most of my boy’s life and wanted more flexibility with my schedule to do things with them. But I didn’t have the tools or know a better path. So now in my early 40’s I am starting to figure it out and I truly believe timing is everything.

I created Conscious Mujer Collective in the fall of 2019. It’s a safe space for women to come together to nurture, support and heal one another. Women would gather in my home and talk about everyday life. We had activities like hiking, vision board brunches, meditation, journaling and more. Then in 2020, everything came to a halt.

I came across a Reiki Master on Instagram (thebizbruja) who was offering “Pay What You Can” services. I decided to look into it and as I leaned, I knew Reiki could help my loved ones with their anxiety, which in turn would help me. I received my Certification in July of 2020. This also opened up so many doors but most importantly, it opened me up internally. I realized I needed to pivot Conscious Mujer Collective and now was the time to make a difference. “Ah-ha… I think I found my niche”.

My heart is full when I’m being of service to others. Although the majority of my clients are women, I’ve enjoyed the men who I have encountered and admire their willingness to be vulnerable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve spent 20 plus years as Administrative Assistant/HR Generalist in the education, medical and legal fields. Administration is the foundation to any business and this is where I’ve acquired skills to work well under pressure while maintaining my composure. I’ve also learned patience and compassion. It wasn’t always easy but over the years I’ve become knowledgeable in communicating with diverse personalities. My emotional intelligence has played a huge role in my professional career. I’m well-rounded, organized, social and enjoy being soundboard for others. I utilize these skills daily but they’ve played a huge role in creating my passion project. I thrive when thinking of innovative ways to support others. Which lead to Conscious Mujer Collective. I want to take my corporate experience into the spiritual realm. Truly give individuals the nurturing support they need in order to heal and thrive.

Offering Reiki, Spiritual readings and in-person experiences with healing retreats is my way to truly give individuals the nurturing support they need in order to heal and thrive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely Sedona! We’ll do some hiking, sightseeing and visit Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park. We would visit South Mountain one evening as well. We would check out some of the art museums, local murals around the city and support some of the local shops like Frida’s Garden and Spirit of Elements. I enjoy craft beers, I know this isn’t about me but I would include The Attic and Casual Pint on the itinerary.

A few of my favorite restaurants are:

Harumi Sushi & Sake (Phoenix)
Rito’s Mexican Food (Phoenix)
Millie’s Cafe (Mesa)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, my boys, Jose-Miguel, Lorenzo and Elijah. They truly are the best. Always going with the flow, looking at me a little crazy at times but knowing “she’s got this”. I know they are watching me, I see it in their daily interactions and that’s what makes this worth it. They are three of the most generous, compassionate and loving humans I know.

I’d like to thank my friend Teresa, @thedeependofhealing for being a safe haven and allowing me to come to her about life and this crazy idea, which lead to the beginning of Conscious Mujer Collective. I’m grateful for Kari, now the Co-Creator of Conscious Mujer Collective, Karinee Lopez, owner of @sanateherbals joined in 2020, she resides in Florida. These ladies have truly impacted my business and life. I’m blessed.

As I mentioned earlier 2020 caused so many of us to pivot, this allowed me to take a step back and realize there was more out there I needed to learn. I dove deep into my spirituality and connect with so many amazing individuals. Some of these women/mentors are
Agnes – @lotusflower85041
Vanessa – @thebizbruja
Jasmine – @esotericesa
Rachelle & Nicole w/ @holyhealingbali

I’d like to also thank my parents, my siblings, Shannon and Hector. Some of my dear friends for being there, not only through this chapter but through the many before and many to come. Thank you, Mel, Corina, Nery, Elizabeth, Michelle, Mirtha, Priscilla, Lily, Bianca, Jen and Mia just to name a few.
