We had the good fortune of connecting with Sloane Hansen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sloane, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a native of Arizona and went to Navajo grade school and Saguaro High School. I know the seasons of Arizona and raised my two children here. My first job was in retail at The Scottsdale Princess Resort and my first social hospitality job was at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain in 2002. It was a natural progression to starting my own company in 2018.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My success as a wedding planner comes from my hotel catering sales experience and taught me very valuable tools from back of the house and front of the house operations which gives me a leg up on executing weddings and events. I was the one drafting wedding contracts for clients for years and that is something you can’t “just learn” as a wedding planner. Knowing the capacity, rules, dimensions and pros and cons of each venue is a huge advantage for my clients so that they get the most for their budget is always a main goal when taking on new clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve seen this valley grow since being born and raised in Scottsdale in 1966 and it has something for everyone!
I recently found my baby sister on Ancestry and have showed her these fun places!
Shopping; Scottsdale Fashion Square, Kierland and Scottsdale Quarter.
Restaurants:Los Olivos and TeePee for authentic Mexican Food, El Chorro and Zinc Bistro
Scottsdale Pickleball facilities
Day trips; Sedona, Bisbee and Carefree

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Each position I have held in the hospitality industry has shaped me to where I am today including the Marriott Buttes Resort where I obtained my wedding planning certification and The Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain where I first planned and executed weddings. My children have been my greatest cheerleaders.
