We had the good fortune of connecting with Spitfire Sparks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Spitfire, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It all comes back to the love of music. Everything I do in life tends to somehow revolve around music. I feel the beat inside at all times, rhythms and vibrations in everyday life. I always knew I wanted to do something music related, and for most of my life I thought that was going to be just playing drums, which I’ve done from a young age. However, life in its never ceasing wildness decided to lead me down a different path. I’d been collecting various skills and tools to create my own vision without even knowing it.. and eventually it became evident. I ultimately decided to push forward into this career simply for my love of music. I hoped it would allow me to harness my creative self, and hopefully allow me down a path that leads to more music based career work down the line. I absolutely love where I’m at and what I do now, but I can truly say that as long as I’m involved in the music in some way, it never feels like work.

One of the biggest themes I try to convey in my music that I’m proud of is authenticity. I try to create music to inspire, to uplift, to help people get through hard times, you name it. Furthermore, I always try to keep my music unique from itself. If you were to go check out 10 tracks off my discography, chances are most if not all of those ten tracks would have a different sound, feel, and vibe to them.

It hasn’t been a quick or easy ride to get where I am today. This has been a culmination of years of thought, effort, creation, marketing, work, work, and more work. In the grand scheme of things, yes it’s tough… yes it takes alot of work… and yes it’s going to have times when you want to quit. BUT, you must always remember the end goal, which is why it’s also so important to have one. WHY are you doing this… and if you achieve what you set out to do, will it be worth it? Most people dislike work because they find their work unfulfilling, or are disinterested in the field/topic they have chosen to work with. With music for me, these answers are a resounding yes, which eliminates so much of the negative association with “Work”.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although my story feels like something I created from nothing, there are tons of people who helped forge the path of the journey along the way. My fiancée has been a huge support from day one, and always a positive force in pushing me to achieve the things I know that I can. My mom for always allowing me to be myself and express my musical interests, even when she didn’t agree with them, and for not chopping off any of my fingers through the countless hours of drumming on any surface I could find haha! My DJ King Gonzo has had unwavering support for me since the beginning, and my dawg IKnowRhyno for always being strapped with the camera and helping us create visual memories for our lifetimes. Friends, colleagues, and people I’ve met along the way have all played a part in shaping this experience, and honestly I’m thankful for every single thing that’s happened both good and bad, because I truly believe that it’s what has led me to the place I am today.
