Meet Stella Speridon | Co-Founder and Head Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stella Speridon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stella, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Gut Instinct Media, we believe storytelling is a force for change. Our work goes beyond just reporting—we strive to educate, challenge perspectives, and amplify voices that often go unheard. Through in-depth journalism, multimedia storytelling, and investigative reporting, we tackle issues that directly impact communities, from local movements to national conversations.
Our commitment to social impact extends beyond content creation. We actively support media literacy, mentor up-and-coming journalists, and collaborate with community organizations to ensure that accurate, thought-provoking narratives reach the people who need them most. By fostering informed discussions and holding institutions accountable, Gut Instinct Media is not just covering the world—we’re working to change it for the better.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Gut Instinct Media, we believe that powerful storytelling can drive change. As a media company, we focus on covering stories that matter—whether that’s shedding light on pressing social issues, amplifying underrepresented voices, or capturing the pulse of cultural and political movements. Our work spans across multiple platforms, including digital journalism, video/audio production, and engaging visual content.
What makes Gut Instinct Media different is our fearless approach to storytelling. We don’t just report—we dig deeper, challenge narratives, and give a voice to those often left unheard. We operate with integrity, passion, and a commitment to truth, ensuring that every piece we create is not only informative but impactful.
Getting to where we are today has been anything but easy. Like many independent media startups, we’ve faced challenges—securing resources, breaking through in a competitive industry, and pushing back against misinformation. But what’s kept us going is our relentless belief in the power of authentic storytelling. We’ve built a network of passionate creatives, leaned on mentors, and stayed true to our vision, adapting and growing along the way.
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that persistence and authenticity are everything. In an era of fast news and viral content, we’ve stayed committed to depth over clicks, impact over trends. We’ve learned that building something meaningful takes time, and the right audience will find you if you stay true to your mission.
Gut Instinct Media isn’t just a media company—it’s a movement. We’re here to tell stories that make a difference, challenge perspectives, and leave a lasting impact. We want to inspire the next generation of journalists, creatives, and changemakers to use their voices fearlessly.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Phoenix for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect mix of food, adventure, culture, and nightlife—all the things that make this city special. Here’s the ultimate Phoenix itinerary:
Day one, I would start out with breakfast at Matt’s Big Breakfast in Phoenix, which is a local staple for all things brunch. Then I would take them up on a challenge, hiking Camelback Mountain for insane views of the city. The hike would be followed up with lunch at Taco Chelo, arguably my favorite food spot in all of Phoenix. Then we would go to Poolside at the Arizona Biltmore for a little relaxation. And, for dinner, we would go to Hanny’s which is one of my favorite places for cocktails followed by a trip to Gracie’s Tax Bar for some live music and mingling.
Throughout the rest of the trip I would try to make a stop at the Phoenix Art Museum which is always introducing new exhibits and such a great place for a photo-op. And, a trip down Roosevelt Row which is my favorite place to be on the first Friday of every month, filled with art galleries, live music, and delicious food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible women who have shaped, supported, and inspired me. First and foremost, my mother—her resilience, wisdom, and unwavering belief in me have been my foundation. She’s taught me the power of perseverance and the importance of standing firm in my truth.
I also have to give a huge shoutout to the women mentors and colleagues who have guided me through my journey—whether it was a professor who pushed me to sharpen my voice, a fellow journalist who reminded me that my perspective matters, or the fearless women in media who continue to break barriers and redefine the industry.
And of course, my closest friends—my sisters in ambition and heart. They are my sounding board, my reality check, and my biggest cheerleaders. Their encouragement reminds me daily that success isn’t just about individual achievement; it’s about lifting each other up along the way.
To all the women who have poured into me—I see you, I appreciate you, and I hope to pay it forward every chance I get.
