Meet Stephanie Kirby | Shadow Work Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Kirby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business for many reasons. Firstly, many of my family members work for themselves and it always seemed to make sense to me that if you’re going to devote so much time of your life into work you should ultimately be doing it to benefit yourself as well.
Secondly, I have always felt a calling to do what I do. Even though it evolved into what it is today after many many years I always knew I would figure out what it is at some point, I have always been guided by my intuition and somehow it guided me to start my own coaching business.
Lastly, when I decided to start my business I was essentially unemployable. My chronic illness had become so sever that working for someone else during normal business hours took a huge toll on my physical health and mental health as well. I couldn’t take care of myself properly working 40 hours a week. I needed to work for myself to give myself the freedom to go at my own pace.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I became a Shadow Work Coach after Shadow Work saved my life from debilitating chronic illness symptoms. I tried literally every method of healing you can think of and I did not see lasting results until I began to address the root of my problems.
Through Shadow Work I began to understand that my childhood was traumatic and altered the way I see the world. my nervous system was running in overdrive because I never really felt safe in my own body after the things I experienced.
Shadow Work allowed me to reprogram my mind in a way where I began to feel safe again. Through studying and unpacking my triggers I learned what moments from my past were still affecting me in my adult life. I now had the ability to change my reactions to certain patterns that kept coming up in my life.
I found complete emotional freedom through Shadow Work, and it became my favorite thing to study and expand upon. I work with clients daily doing Shadow Work. Additionally, I have created two digital courses and written a published workbook on the subject. I love coming up with new ways for people to connect with their shadow and helping my clients find healing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in the city:
I love the authentic Mexican food and margaritas at Los Olivos, and when it’s not too hot I love to enjoy their patio.

My favorite little clothing shop is just around the corner in Old Town Scottsdale and it’s called Norde Scottsdale.

In the same neighborhood I also love to check out the things they have for sale by local artists at The Merchantile.

Four Till Four has some of the best coffee I have ever had!

And my favorite spot to get something for my sweet tooth is at Sweet Dees. They also have great breakfast options.

While I’m there I always go and get my nails done at Aria Nail Salon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to a book called CPTSD from Surviving to Thriving by Pete Walker. This book changed my whole life! Learning about Complex Trauma and the ways it can affect you even years after the trauma took place allowed me to understand myself on a deeper level. Suddenly everything that I was thinking and feeling made sense and there was a clear understanding of why. Even my chronic illness symptoms started to make sense, and I could finally work on the symptoms from a place of understanding and deeper awareness. I began to comprehend that my body was trying to communicate with me in the absence of language.
