Meet Stormi Yates | Founder + Master Artist of Stormiprobeauty

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stormi Yates and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stormi, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
Moving to a new state at the height of my career. Giving up o so many more amazing opportunities to come,. It kinda feels like failure & all those years of navigating the saturated beauty, industry of Los Angeles was for what ??? When your business is all in LA & you chose to leave it behind. So many things crumbed. Things that I worked so hard to achieve. To find a place in your heart for that time in your life, and to recognize that it’s different now, and to start a whole new business 16 years later.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The makeup artist journey has been a journey of passion. Starting from the time I could hold a lipstick, I haven’t stopped loving makeup. My grandmother owned a fulll service salon in our small town & many hours of my young life were spent in it watching women get their little transformation ( one that made them Smile & so happy) if I could be apart of that happiness sign me up. I was also very fortunate to have a grandmother that let me play Hair And Makeup up on her even when I would get brushes stuck in her hair, but she would have to cut out. She still allowed me to play.. i want to
Give back the same was she did & I love teaching young
Girls about the industry I have been so lucky to be a part of for 20 years.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Tucson. My favorites are Hiking, amazing local restaurants & Fantastic local shops and always a good time downtown. Some of my favorites are Flora market run, Tito & Pep & the Monica. My favorite hikes are Finger Rock Trail and Linda vista. I love seeing shows at Hotel Congress, the Fox theater & The Maverick.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to recognize all the photographers, wedding planners, clients, family & friends that made my first year and half in Tucson Az a huge success. My family for supporting, loving & understanding that I can’t make it everything. Weekends are mostly for working! Lol
