We had the good fortune of connecting with Suewong McFadden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Suewong, why did you pursue a creative career?

From the very start, it all began with a simple sketch! As a little girl, I was enamored with the world of writing, drawing, and painting. These were not just hobbies; they were my lifeline, my escape when words failed me. In the quiet corners of my imagination, I found solace, pouring my heart out onto paper in the form of sketches, short stories, and poetry.

Those childhood dreams of sharing my words with the world never faded. I carried them with me, tucked away in my trusty 3-subject notebook, as I journeyed through college. There, amidst the whirlwind of new experiences, I discovered an unexpected passion—teaching and mentoring the bright young souls in my community.

It was during my first year of teaching that inspiration struck like a bolt of lightning. As I watched my students grow and flourish under my guidance, I realized the profound impact I could have on their lives. Thus, “In Ms. McFadden’s Class” was born—a tribute to the beautiful souls who had touched my heart, like the Singletary family, who inspired me to pen their story.

I may not be your average person, and that’s okay. In fact, it’s what makes me uniquely me. I’ve always known deep down that I was meant for something more, a higher purpose. And now, as I look back on my journey, I see that I am living out the plan that was written for me long ago—to be the change, to make a difference, one story at a time, guided by the love and purpose that God has instilled within me.

What should our readers know about your business?
Four years back, Miss McFadden Learning Academy popped up in my dreams, sparked by my love for teaching and a big desire to make a difference. I’ve always been the kind of teacher who cares, who wants to know more about my students’ lives outside of school. But I felt like I could do more, reach more kids, and really help them excel.

So, I took a chance, stepping into leadership roles and building up my skills while creating a business focused on helping students with all kinds of academic stuff. What started as just tutoring soon grew into something bigger—I started writing books that help kids learn and grow emotionally too.

But I didn’t stop there. I saw the power of bringing families together, so I started planning fun events where everyone could learn and have a good time. It wasn’t easy, though. Money was tight, and finding people to join in was tough. I wasn’t even sure where to start!

But I kept going, believing in what I was doing and figuring things out as I went along. I learned a lot along the way—about bouncing back from setbacks, staying strong when things get tough, and having faith in myself and what I’m doing.

Now, Miss McFadden Learning Academy isn’t just a business—it’s a place where kids can grow, learn, and have fun. We’re all about helping kids do better in school, getting them excited about reading, and bringing families together through cool events and visits from authors.

In a world full of challenges, we’re here to show that with a lot of heart, a bit of hustle, and a whole bunch of belief, anything is possible.
