We had the good fortune of connecting with Susannah Lago and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susannah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
In my past, while working in Corporate America, I was limited in my creativity. I was promoted through the ranks, but even when you get to the top there are restrictions on what you can and cannot do creatively, artistically. After being set free from the corporate life, I knew that I had many ideas and visions I wanted to bring to life for a long time. I no longer needed to convince someone else that these were valid ideas and should be granted a fair shot. I validated my own ideas and my own creativity. Choosing a creative idea where I get to say “yes, definitely give that a try, that’s super cool” to myself, and then to see those ideas succeed and resonate with my client base is extremely rewarding.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is Style Up Group. After working for years in the corporate and leisure event industries, coordinating and executing everything from rehearsal dinners and bridal showers, to black tie galas, trade shows, corporate marketing events, community functions, group travel and more, it was time to take a leap of faith and strike out on my own. With all of the steps involved in executing a successful event, I identified a great opportunity to create a service that expedites the event planning process while styling up the event itself and overall client experience. Clients come to us for creative and completely unique event experiences.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d make a bunch of spots but one CANNOT MISS spots is Harbor House. It’s an upscale seafood themed restaurant with Lake Michigan & skyline views, including the Milwaukee Art Museum. The lighting is also beautiful in the restaurant which is one of my favorite parts!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my late mother, Kim Bailey – the most creative, inspiring and smart woman I have ever known.
