Meet Tabitha Dumas | Signature Color Style

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tabitha Dumas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tabitha, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
While serving on a team for a fledgling networking group ten or so years ago, we were discussing how to get more people to attend, and a fellow leader said “Well, if you build it they will come,” to mean that if we planned and hosted meetings, people would simply…show up! I vehemently disagreed and reminded them of the importance of marketing and staying in front of people. Everyone is distracted. People need a dozen or more touchpoints before they consider buying. A touch point could be a social media post, an email, a text, a personal invitation, an ad, another social media post, an event link, an additional reminder, etc. You can’t simply decide to host something and expect people to run to sign up. You have to be clear on what you’re offering, add value to your community over time and show up consistently in order to get noticed and be remembered. Building it is important, yes, but getting people to engage or attend requires a long-term commitment and a lot of work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I’m excited about right now is how popular color analysis has become (largely due to TikTok, which I don’t even use)! When I became an image consultant in 2012, color analysis was always my favorite offering. Then when I took a blogging course several years ago, I really drilled down on color analysis and started focusing my marketing efforts toward it, never dreaming I’d get to analyze hundreds of people all over the world in just two years! I’ve worked with men and women, and ladies ages 12 to 80 and beyond, often in groups with friends and family and it never gets old. Seeing people come alive in their best colors brings me so much joy. When they send me pictures of their simplified closet or their new outfit or their shopping finds, it makes my day. Since the beginning of my business, my prayer was always for God to direct my path and open doors for me and every time I analyze someone, I’m reminded of how blessed I am to get to do what I love and get to boost my client’s confidence! I’m also excited to now hold appointments in our office just three miles from our home which helps me separate work and home, and work with clients distraction free. I’ve recently added group color analysis events as well for a very affordable price to make sure anyone can get their colors done.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends come to town, we always go to Veteran’s Oasis Park to walk, relax and explore nature. The birds, plants and water features are fantastic. My newest favorite place is The Painted Tree in Chandler where several of my friends have a booth space. The variety is amazing and it’s so much fun to shop. La Casa Blanca in Chandler is my favorite Mexican restaurant and their tacos with rice and beans is my go-to dinner, plus their prickly pear margarita is so refreshing. For my friends into health, we go to Desert Sage Herbs, a mother/daughter owned and run herbal retail shop and wellness center where I’ve shopped for almost 20 years. We stock up on herbs, teas, essential oils and wellness items plus unique gifts. Vicky and Brittney are so knowledgeable and helpful!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband of 22 years, Drew, deserves a shoutout for all the support and encouragement he gives me and how he leads and loves our family well. Since I quit teaching to start our family over 18 years ago, he has worked hard to allow me to be a homemaker while also pursuing my dreams. He gives me feedback for my business, takes care of things during my work time and looks out for my well being. He also keeps me laughing and insists I take time off to make sure I don’t overdo it.
