We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Crane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up, I was obsessed with any and all things beauty. From nails to makeup, skin care and hair. In high-school I was introduced to two women who owned and ran their own beauty businesses doing eyebrows services and instantly knew that having my own business was something I wanted to pursue! I always knew college was not for me but I felt as if that was my only option for so long. Getting to see the community of women working in the beauty industry inspired me to combine the two things that I am passionate about; beauty and business! I learned about eyelash extensions my senior year of high-school and loved the way they made me feel. Instantly they became a service I was in love with and wanted to do myself! After high-school I enrolled into Esthetic school and become a licensed esthetician! Shortly after school I took the leap to be independent and start my own business doing eyelash extensions!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can sh
are a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beauty By Hannah Az has been in business for a little over a year now and it has been the most rewarding year of my life! I started my business when I was 19 and it was really hard to navigate where I fit in within the beauty industry and the entrepreneur world. Connecting with people in the industry and just soaking up as much information as I could from other business owners really helped set a foundation for my own. Jumping right into a business recently graduated from high school and straight out of beauty school was a big decision, but the best decision! I just want to show that there is always a seat for you at the table if you make one yourself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love sporting events, especially Suns games! I’d take them to a game or anywhere up in Sedona! The Pink Jeep Tours in Sedona are a great idea to show someone the pretty scenery.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A woman I met in high-school before I started my business was the sole reason that I decided to pursue a creative career. Kyndal Buckey, owner of Brows By Kyndal Az, guided and supported me through my journey of going independent in the beauty industry! Right out of beauty school she offered to share her suite with me to help my new business get on its feet. She also guided me through the legalities of owning a small business. I am so thankful to call her my friend!
