We had the good fortune of connecting with Tahirah Ogletree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tahirah, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The O’Tahirah Foundation,Inc is a 501 (3) C nonprofit organization that I established in 2016. The foundation provides resources and support to families impacted by domestic abuse within our Arizona community and in surrounding cites. Our mission is to provide hope to families who’ve experienced abuse.

The O’Tahirah Foundation, Inc offers a pathway to safety for women and children through our Survivors Emergency Rescue Program. Our program is facilitated through The O’Tahirah Foundation’s House of Hope. The House of Hope will provide emergency housing, food, and basic needs assistance for women and children escaping domestic abuse. The O‘Tahirah Foundation’s House of Hope represents the restoration of LIFE. Our Survivors Emergency Rescue program aids in education, rebuilding, future safety planning, professional counseling, trauma and group therapy support.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m the founder of The O’Tahirah Foundation, Inc & Detox Us Now, LLC. Detox Us Now, LLC, is a health & wellness company that focuses on the wellbeing of our customers and survivors of domestic abuse.

The O’Tahirah Foundation, Inc is a 501(c) (3) Non-Profit Organization, established in 2016. We have served over 500 families through our Survivors Christmas Toy Drives and Survivor Emergency Rescue Program.

As the founder, executive director, and an overcomer of domestic violence, my vision is to help rebuild hope in those who’ve been impacted by abuse. Our mission is to provide revolutionary awareness and programs that aid in helping families with basic needs assistance while helping women transform from abuse to abundance.

I believe what sets me apart is my faith in God, my own journey from victim to overcomer, my passion to help other women overcome, and my creativity.

What I’m most proud of is the opportunity to build a legacy and give back to those who are now on the same journey I was once on. I’m grateful for the impact we are making in our community.

Driven by my visionary thinking and entrepreneurial spirit I retired after 13 years of working for one of the largest financial institutions in America to pursue entrepreneurship. While I was excited about building a legacy and walking in my purpose this was not easy.

My journey has not been for the faint of heart. From conceptualization to reality I worked hard, and lived off very little. I disciplined my distractions and sacrificed all personal pleasures and anything that would slow me down from completing my book, Survivors Celebrating Life Beyond Domestic Violence and starting The O’Tahirah Foundation, Inc.

There are many fundamental lessons I learned along my journey in entrepreneurship. However my top 5 principles I live by are what got me through my journey. Seeking God in all decision making, authenticity, passion, purpose and a giving heart.

I want the world to know that my brand O’Tahirah® is about the birthing of an overcomer it stands on the pillar of resilience and unwavering faith in God.

A person’s past doesn’t have to be predicated on their future. Anyone has the ability to create a new narrative if they believe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a nature enthusiast! One of my favorite places in the city is the iconic Camelback mountains. The picturesque views of the sunset overlooking the city are breathtaking.

Each time my guest visits Arizona we hike the mountains, go horseback riding at KOLI Equestrian center located in beautiful Chandler Arizona and finally we top the evening off at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa. Some of the fun places to check out in Arizona are Sedona, Scottsdale and Tempe Town Lake!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would like to acknowledge and thank God for keeping me through my most difficult journeys in life. I’m grateful to my parents, family, pastor and mentor Aubrey Barnwell for the support, encouragement and belief in my vision.

I would like to immensely thank A New Leaf, Faith House, A House that Love Built & Hanging onto Hope foundation for partnering with The O’Tahirah Foundation, Inc and allowing us to serve the family’s in our community.

I would like to thank our following corporate partners & Donors: Walmart Foundation, Allstate Purple Purse Foundation, Albertsons Foundation, Crescent Crown Distributing, and John Licari of Total Life Changes. I’d like to thank my staff and the faithful volunteers who have devoted their time & love to The O’Tahirah Foundation,Inc

Lastly, I’m beyond grateful and honored to the survivors who shared their most sacred and personal part of their lives with me in the Award- Winning book, Survivors Celebrating Life Beyond Domestic Violence. Our stories will always be memorialized within the pages of this book!
