We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Richmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tammy, how does your business help the community?
Helping the community means alot to me, I can remember when as a kid we didn’t have much but my mom did the best she could do with what she had. Although, there were kids that didn’t have nothing barely and when it came to Holidays like Easter, it seems like we were the only fortunate ones, my brothers and sisters even thought we really didn’t have much at all. It really puts me in a specail place in my life when I construct my Gift Baskets because it seems as if something comes over me when I am Architecting them. Yes, I mean Architect, When I sit on the side of the streets selling my baskets, It makes me feel good when Parents bring their kids to pick a basket, and their eyes start to water and they fall immediately in love with my presentation of Baskets, and that makes me feel like I have accomplished something that is priceless, to see the Look on their faces.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My love has always been in Art or anything creative, I am working in a job that does nothing for my career as a Designer, but I am a claims examiner for UST, llc and my side love is making baskets and styling Hair. It has not been easy in my journey to be successful but I wouldn’t change a thing. I move to Atlanta, Ga. in 2003 from Tampa, Fl. not knowing anyone there but I truly believe it was a spiritual move for me. I landed a job in 3 days as an Hairstylist but a few years passed by and I started College for the first time in my life and i felt some what important because I took a chance to change my career to something that suited me more in my gifts, Interior Design. I now have a BS in Interior design but even with the degree I am not working in the field but no one can take away what I have been educated with. So, after working as a cashier at home depot P/T and going to school F/T, my journey continued as a Kithcen and Bath Designer for Home Depot once graduation was over, I moved back to Tampa and that is where Home Depot put me in the position that related to my degree. After 6 1/2 yrs with them, I am just floating with what life has to offer me and my Talents to be successful and Survive.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first plan a trip to our Iconic, Ybor city in Tampa, Fl. It is a different kind of New Orleans experience just going down 7th ave district and enjoying coctails, live Bands, Bar after Bar, great mixed of all kinds of cultural food places in your shorts or whatever your summer Attire may be. Then I would plan theater event at our Straz center for a nice indoor gown wearing Attire for a Play. Then Top it off with Beach, Beach and more Beaches, we would go to Clearwater and that is the Ultimate view close to Tampa beaches, But out of all the Beaches it would have to be in Sarasota, Fl. beaches as well and Anna Maria Island, ledo beach is my favorite. Before the last day of there trip, I will show them our beautiful venue called the River Walk Downtown Tampa on the water, Rooftop bars, water taxis, Harbour Island, you name it and Seafood ,everywhere in Tampa.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My gifts and Talents are dedicated to my father God in Heaven, because without him, none of these would exist. My mentors where Junior Achievement, they inspired me to never give up and take life to the highest level you can to achieve ,in All that you Do.
