We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Beery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, what matters most to you?
Integrity and hard work. When it comes to running a business you have to show up and put in the work in order to be successful. I give every client my undivided attention, energy flows where attention goes. I am always careful to make sure that I maintain a work/life balance because a healthy balance between work and play is also key to success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I opened my business a year ago this month. I believe what sets me apart is that I incorporate many different modalities into my massage sessions. I offer sound healing, gua sha, cupping, reiki, etc. Many times I’ll add 4 or 5 different modalities into one session. I also make sure to incorporate music, aromatherapy, lighting, and I even have a small water feature. Overall, the ambiance is perfect for each client and promotes healing and allows for complete relaxation.

It sounds so unusual to say this, but starting my business has been so much easier than I ever expected. I know I’m where I am supposed to be, and I am doing what I love. Everything just fell into place. I know that’s not everyone’s experience but I am grateful for the path of my career that has lead me to this point. My biggest challenge is maintaining balance in my life, it’s a continuous effort that I have to make a priority. I tend to want to help as many people as possible, but I know I have to have boundaries in place for my own health and that of my family.

I have learned so many lessons along the way but I would say that the importance of self-care is a big one. I preach it to my clients and do my best to give them advice but I know I must also follow the same advice. Burnout is very common in my industry and many therapists don’t make it past 5 years before changing career paths.

I would like the world to know why I started my business. I may not be able to change the world but I can control my little corner of it. You have to start where you’re at and do your best to put good into the world. I noticed more than ever after the last few years that the world definitely needs healing and that is why I started my business, there was definitely a need that existed and I helped to fill it. We can all be capable of being present and holding space for others, everyone is capable of healing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am in the Buckeye area, and I absolutely love it here. If we were to stay in this area for the week there are so many great restaurants and fun places to go! Some of my top restaurants that are close by: The Vic Bar and Grill, Verrado Grille, Tempo Urban Bistro, Ebb + Flow Cafe & Coffee, DeGino Coffee Bar, Grazie Pizzeria, Rosie’s Taco Shop….and many more!

For a night out, a country bar that is really fun is Waddell’s Longhorn Corral or a unique dive bar called Roman’s Oasis, both are close by. They offer live music and dancing as well as dance lessons. One of my favorite places to go is Hidden Lake! They host so many events. Live music, kids zone, there’s so much to do there. You can even fish or rent a kayak, paddle-board or pedal boat to get out on the water.

During the day there are so many things to do as well, we have so many beautiful hiking trails going into the White Tank Mountains. The Verrado stairs, a stairway built right into the side of the mountain and is a great workout but also gives you some great views at the top!

Some really cool and unique stores are close by as well. Screws and Sparkles is in downtown Buckeye and has so many really interesting handmade products.

I think we could easily fill in a whole week and not even leave the city, I truly love living here!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My daughters Brianna and Aubrey. They are what motivates me every day and they mean the world to me.
