We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Martell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Self-discipline saved my life. When I was in yoga teacher training in 2007 my teacher said, develop a home yoga practice. I had no morning routine or routine at all, so I just practiced yoga everyday whenever my time fit. Then I had read in a book that a morning ritual routine would get your mind in a calm positive state to start your day. So I started meditating and practicing yoga early in the morning. That brought me to open the door to self-discipline. I felt more empowered each day to not react to life. I am more disciplined with my time, the energy I am around, the foods I eat, the books I read and the choices I make for my personal well-being.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started teaching yoga in 2007 while still in yoga teacher training. Yoga means “to yoke”, or “union”. In my heart I think of it as the connection to my higher and lower self. It puts my physical and energetic body into balance. As a libra, I am all about balance. I have taught yoga publicly and privately for the last thirteen years. Its an incredibly humbling experience. To witness inner and outer transformation in people week after week is such a beautiful gift. Yoga opened many doors for me I started diving into buddhism, christianity and self-study. The study of the self is a journey not all can take. It leads you to every truth you have tried to avoid. It strips you of your ego nature humbling you until you meet yourself. Eventually arriving in balance in a state of humble confidence. I have always studied the human experience I have taken many classes, workshops, and trainings. I have studied with many beautiful authentic teachers. All of that led me to my Gypsy Love business. It lead me to myself. It made my bare feet become ruby red slippers. “Theres no place like home, theres no place like home.” I was home for the first time, safe in my own body safe in my life. I was free for the first time. My business is all referral based which has been a blessing. I get to meet all kinds of people from all types of worlds. Gypsy Love represents love and movement as medicine. As a spiritual intuitive life coach my work calls for a-lot of self-disciple and dedication to my faith. Practice anything and you can learn it.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Growing up as a native in AZ I have had the luxury of so much time exploring the beautiful earth. Arizona’s mountains are stunners. The sunsets are only missing an ocean. Sedona is and will always be such a sacred place. There are amazing hiking trails and really delicious food. The Boynton Canyon Trail is one of my favorites. On the trail there is an energy vortex.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My great great grandmother was a local midwife and tea leaf reader in AZ. I spent time with her when I was little and my mom raised my brothers, sister and I very holistic. I had always looked for a tea leaf reader but I could never find one. A few years ago, through a dear friend and student, I found one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Janice Roper’s, she is a spiritual astrologer and tea leaf reader. She is so much more than those titles, I consider her a spiritual mother for me. She puts me in my positive place, “you can do it, sweet Tara, trust life.” Janice, thank you, everyday your wisdom and love permeate through me reminding me to love myself.
