We had the good fortune of connecting with Taryn Shank and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taryn, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by love, kindness and others following their passions. Hundreds of people have inspired me throughout my life. I think it’s important to not look at one person for inspiration. I also think it’s important to not idolize others for what they have accomplished but look at them as someone who has accomplished something that you can accomplish, too. I look everywhere for inspiration. From Gary V, to my clients who are wanting to be better versions of themselves. I get inspired when I see people bettering their lives. You can tell when someone has that spark in their heart and are doing good in the world by spreading love in their own way. Thats what inspires me.What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Holistic Health Coach and a Wellness/Lifestyle Blogger. My Health Coaching Practice, Thoughtfully Thriving, was the first step into launching my own business back in 2016. I did this back when “bloggers” weren’t even a thing. So for the first few years of my coaching practice, everything was completely word of mouth and my advertising was done with flyers. Fast forward to now, I coach and blog hand in hand. I share educational health tips, yummy recipes and self love practices on my blog and I take clients off the blog. Thoughtfully Thriving (my coaching practice), is special for a few reasons. First, I take a different approach with my clients than most Nutritionist/dietitians and even Health Coaches. When you work with me, we’ll look at your overall life and many areas of it. I don’t believe food is the only thing in your life that makes you “healthy”. I believe all areas of your life like, career, relationships, diet, exercise, spirituality, finances, education, social life and more play a huge role in your overall health. You could be eating all the right things; organic, gluten free, working out 7 days a week and still be seriously unhealthy and unhappy. With my program, we tackle all areas and make sure you are living in sync with a lifestyle that allows you to thrive. I support, encourage and hold my clients accountable for all of their goals. But we don’t just set goals like “how many calories to get in a day”, we dig a lot deeper ;). In my practice, we work on building a strong loving mindset that allows you to live a balanced life with sustainable practices and habits. Another thing that makes my programs special is, I tailor each program to my clients needs because I don’t believe there is one fix for everyone. I truly believe that each individual is so different in their needs so I like to get to know my clients and their lifestyles while working together so we can truly implement habits that will work for them, forever. In my program, you gain a whole new love for yourself, your life and the food on your plate. You won’t learn anything about calories. And honestly, thats something thats super exciting when you realize calories aren’t the only thing standing in your way and there is a totally different approach you can take to live the “healthy lifestyle” you’re dreaming of. There were a lot of challenges in getting to where I am today. There will always be challenges when taking a leap and doing your own thing. Thats something I love about owning my own business, everything is in my own hands. Yes, there have been many challenges but I think challenges make you grow. I think the challenges are where the magic happens. You can push through and show em what you got or you can give up. Thats what sets the successful people apart from the rest, they don’t get up when things get hard. Ultimately, I overcome each challenge by pushing through. You have to stay on your toes and figure things out as you go. Support from loved ones always helps too.If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, if I wasn’t leaving the country with my BFF, I’d be making them come to Scottsdale!!! The best place for a good time and sunshine. With all the good food and activities! I love it in Arizona because it has so much to offer. I’d take my BFF around Old Town during the day and show her some of my favorite eats and drinks (I love a good cocktail) like Farm and Craft, The Herb Box or Olive and Ivy. We would probably get a workout in at Scottsdale Bodi or The Madison and maybe hike Camelback Mountain one day too! Since Sedona is so close, we’d make a day trip up there and hike to see some stunning views. After the hike we’d go to The Local Juicery of course. Juice bars and coffee shops are one of my favorite places to be! Of course we’d catch some rays and visit either Arrive Hotels in Phoenix or The Scott in Scottsdale for a good pool scene. I’m not much for night life but I do love a good marg and a nice dinner. I’d probably choose Toca Medea for this is my friends were in town. Chelseas Kitchen is also a favorite and honestly I think they have the best margarita in Phoenix.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My school, Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Jenny Weaver, ND without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was lucky enough to learn and study under some of the best health advocates of our time. Without their knowledge, I don’t think I would have entered the world of Holistic Health. Major shout out to my family and friends who encouraged me to start my own thing long before I had the confidence to do it myself. If it weren’t for them encouraging me even when I felt like I couldn’t do it, I don’t think I would have ever started!
