We had the good fortune of connecting with Tucker Nivison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tucker, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking is an essential balance of all starting out ideas, businesses and endeavors. Without the pursuit of “a risk” there is no personal faith behind the venture…plain and simple. In my opinion, risk taking in business should be viewed as acquiring knowledge. One would not expect to speak a new language over night, but each time the new language was diligently practiced and spoken, a synergistic affect complimented with confidence emerges. So with risk taking, the more risk, the more the successful outcome should be…but one should not try to have their name in bright lights over nigh….successful outcomes from risk taking should be learn, and acquired over time to essentially be transformed from risk-taking into risk management.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was born in South Africa, and came to the States when I was 13 years old. I immediately noticed stark differences in lifestyle, culture, and personal ambitions. I found myself at the age of 18 as a high school drop out, homeless, with a baby boy on the way. Needless to say, I took a massive amount of risk taking. Let me say really quick, risk taking should never be confused with taking shortcuts. For the next 6 years all I did was work dead beat, minimum wage jobs… work and more work. I literally worked every day for six years. Why? Cause I was turned into guys like Dean Graziosi (who I had the pleasure to meet with) and Dave Ramsey. I was saving to invest into myself to afford my son to have a better life. As a 18year old high school dropout all I had was two suitcase and they weren’t filled with money, one was my clothes, and the other was my sons’ clothes…We had nothing more than that. I knew the only way thing would change is if I took a risk in myself and got an education. The change had to come from within…I reapplied to school and started with my GED, then got my associates in Respiratory Care, then obtained my bachelors in Respiratory Care from Northern Arizona University. I chose to further specialize in Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care and have been working with Phoenix Children’s Hospital ever since. I remember studying for that… seemed impossible at the time, now seems like a lifetime ago…. After 6 more years I took another risk, I went back again and obtained a second bachelors this time in nursing from Arizona State University. I found my passion. For the first time in my life I found myself truly captivated by healthcare business and personal excellence…. I was hooked.

To bring you up to speed, I now have three beautiful children and own my own medspa, named North Valley MedSpa, located in north Phoenix area. This would not have been the case if I had not taken a risk on myself to make a difference for my life.
