We had the good fortune of connecting with Tavius Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tavius, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Why did I pursue an artistic/creative career?

To be completely honest it chose me. I’ve been around art and creatives my entire life.
My whole up brining was centered around being creative, from musicians, painters, carpenters, dancers, singer etc anything that pretty much dealt with having a creative mind or artistic hand someone in my family was apart of it and I was around it. My entire family breathes art.
I was subconsciously being groomed to be apart of the multi-faceted world of art/creativity.
I can’t recall a time where art wasn’t apart of my life. So naturally as time progressed I did what creatures of habit do, CREATE ART.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think my art has no has no parameters to be honest. I’ve filmed some things that one can expect then I’ve filmed some things that I myself had to sit back and question where did I get that idea from and that’s what sets me apart from others. If I think it, I can do it and If I can’t do it I’ll find away to make it so that I can do it.

I’m mostly excited about the fact that out of this massive world with all these people and places, there is someone out there who can come across my work and finds the fun or beauty in it. I think that’s pretty exciting!

Getting to where I am today definitely took some patience, being self taught along with what I’ve learned growing thru life. think I’ve made a solid foundation for myself. I’m no Hype Williams or Coreen Simpson but the mistakes, late nights, and failed attempts definitely have made it all worth it.

I want the world to know that I am just a person with a camera capturing the simplicities and complex avenues of art in real time for others to enjoy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a man of simplistic things to be honest. I’m all about the aesthetic if things and how it relates to my senses. I’d have to recommend the Century Grand Bar, each room is its own time era, theme with cocktails to match.

For a more outdoors experience, Sedona is a must on the to do list.

And food is plentiful here, Wren and Wolf downtown phoenix is definitely a must, the decor and theme is like no other and the food is post worthy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s always people who deserve recognition for playing instrumental roles in one’s life.

I’d definitely like to thank my Grandmother, Donna, and mother, Demetrius they play a big factor in my way of artistic approach for projects.

My friends Marteverick Shears and Terrell Miller, they are always a constant reminder of how art has no limits or boundaries. Art can literally be what we deem it to be.

Lastly, my entire family for always pushing me to take chances on myself and to always go out and create!
