We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Aasand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I love this question. My brand is an eating disorder dietitian, who is passionate about patient centered care and redefining what recovery can look like to patients. I believe the most important factor behind my success is my support system. My support system consists of family and friends, whom without, I would not have the ability nor flexibility to dedicate to my business. My mentors, whom I always compensate for their time have also been life changing. They have helped me reflect on what has worked and to change what hasn’t. I believe is someone is missing from your team, go find it and if you need to you should hire it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the owner of Taylor Aasand Nutrition. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and registered dietitian nutritionist who works with children, adolescents, and adults in an outpatient setting. My private practice specializes in eating disorders and intuitive eating, where people can heal their relationships with food, body and by extension themselves.
Taylor Aasand Nutrition is a weight inclusive, Health at Every Size practice-meaning that weight is not the focus or most important factor of a patient’s treatment.
Taylor Aasand Nutrition is also adamant about pursuing policy change around weight stigma and eating disorder care in Arizona. The practice serves as a subject matter expert with the Arizona Department of Health. The work focuses on changing weight centric policies within Women Infants and Children and SNAP-Ed.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I reside in the East Valley and find myself frequenting Agritopia and the Epicenter, so I would start there! I could walk around that neighborhood and finally enjoy some drinks and snacks at Garage East.
\I love the food and yummy cocktails at Buck & Rider in Gilbert, get the One Night in Babylon, please! The weather is fabulous most months of the , so I would try to do something outdoors-walking, a very low key hike or if hot enough in the pool. It’s always a good idea to check out one of the fabulous local farmers markets.
I’m also a standup Comedy fanatic, so in my dream world we would end up in Downtown Phoenix at StandUp Live seeing an amazing performance eating at Wren and Wolf. There’s nothing like it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to my amazing colleagues in the eating disorder treatment community. They constantly inspire me professionally and personally.
