Meet Taylor Reeves | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Reeves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had been doing photography “on the side” while working full time for the state and it came to the point where I wasn’t giving either career my full attention. Both were suffering. In 2020, I made the leap of faith to choose photography and see where it went! 4 years later and I am so thankful I made that decision when I did.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My photography is really catered to my clients, what they envision for their photos, that’s what I want to deliver. I don’t act selfishly and only photograph what I want, it brings out much more creativity in my being able to help bring my clients visions to life – not just my own. I started photography back in 2016 shooting primarily families and maternity. With a background in forensic photography, I knew the ropes of things but nothing as lively as family photos ha ha. I branched into weddings in 2019 and that has been my main focal point in this business. Transitioning from families to weddings was tough, it was a learning curve and took several second shooting gigs and offering my time to others for free to really feel comfortable taking my first wedding. I’m so grateful to all the couples who trust me to capture their most special day.
Today, I’ve noticed a shift in mindset when it comes to my business and I may be making some big changes here come 2025 so stay tuned for that!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Phoenix is full of beautiful places to visit and see! We have some of the most versatile backgrounds for photography, from the desert views of the Superstition Mountains to the urban vibes of downtown Phoenix. You can head 2 hours north to the pines in Flagstaff or 2 hours south to the giant mountain range of Mt Lemon in Tucson. So many different areas to explore!
One of my favorite places to eat and drink is Hanny’s in downtown Phoenix. They have the BEST Bloody Mary (weird I know) and their margarita pizza is so delicious. The also have a very unique art exhibit right in the restaurant.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I wouldn’t be where I am today without Jesus Christ. He is the reason I am successful in life and I have Him to thank alone for giving me everything I have. My husband would say the same. I had so much support through my friends and family to pursue this career full time back in 2020 and they all continue to support me in all that I do.
